It is not in the game at present, therefore I don't think it should be mentioned in the game. What do others think? It's like when Jos told us not to mention things that didn't exist, like cups, and kites.

Jos has made it abundantly clear that such behaviour is not acceptable. Same with that absurd "cigar" thing.

I hope to God that water is never implemented as a 'necessity'. Cantrians just need food, please don't change this.

I really want to have restaurants in Cantr that could make a profit. Please make cooked foods have some real value. Also want vegetarian restaurants, sushi restaurants and health food stores (healing items).

TOPIC: Juice bars! Yay! Coffee and tea houses. Wine bars. Pubs.

If the food/beverages these places sold were somewhat hard for the average char to produce at home (= expensive machinery. *sigh*) and provided a product of real value (healing or maybe a meal that would be sufficient for several days, or special nutritional value that would allow faster travel, for instance, chars would be motivated to patronize them.

Also, they could be good places to socialize while working on small projects like repairs. They could be safe places to repair shields and weapons while chatting and meeting new people. :D

I do not water as a neccessity, it is too scarce. Things are already difficult enough for some places without food, and some places where food is not abundant but neither are the animals. Cooked food has a purpose, it's used on trips. My chars bake bread because one eats less than potatoes per day.

Cooked food does not have a practical purpose. People cook meat, and maybe bread, occasionally fish, but that's three things out of how many? When's the last time you saw someone making one of the other recipes? I definitely think things need to be changed so they're at least good for something.

(And I still don't understand why any place seriously bothers baking bread when it's still not half as good as meat....for all the work required, it seems like even a place without many animals would be better off traveling to a neighboring location and hunting there.)

It works better for me to make bread in a place that has wheat, and wood so close to it. My characters have the materials most of the time where they live, and can't be so bothered with hunting. Sushi, and Pizza are also things my characters make, along with sorgum bread and pancakes. Therefore, I use more than just a 2 of the baked goods. I don't know about anyone else, but I like those extra foods.

Bread was implemented way before meat was, and was the only source of food in some towns for decades, Lumin.

Yes, people who say bread is a waste of time need to get to a few more towns.

This is one game element that I am very interested in getting into the game, because I agree that it is sad to see the lack of quality food in the game. I have been trying to think of more creative ways to motivate people into fixing fancier foods. I would definitely love to see the restaraunts, pubs, and inns begin to develop for more than purely RP purposes. I am also waiting for beer and wine, etc. it would be great to create a demand for the currently lesser foods. But as bad as I want them, I do not mention them in game.

I would like to see water implemented as a necessity with the caveats that 1) it does not become a huge hindrance for people to survive and 2) that it's abundance is increased. I imagine a requirement of something like 10 grams of water per day, with a thirst acquisition without drinking similar (or identical to) hunger currently. But water should definitely be abundant in many more places before this becomes the case.

This would make deserts more......desertlike. :D People are complaining because there is nothing interesting in the deserts?

But it should be done carefully so that characters aren't dying in droves because the demand is too high.

well.. i personaly like the idea that if you eat som fancy food like... say.. a steamed lopster.. you wont have to eat for a YEAR.. depending on the amount of lopster you ate. and.. lets say for a different thing.. like... well.. we all no that wine and beer take pretty long to make.. so why not make it so if you drink wine.. or beer.. you don't have to drink for a wile.. but if you drink too much of the beer.. you get your helth doun. And also.. you should create a little button that sais "dont eat" beside your beer and wine and lopster.. so you can save those for later.. or just have the "eat" button make you eat that sertain food.. or drink.

There is no need for thirst/drinking. Period.

Cantrians need food. Thirst would have to be factored in to the point where the amount of food/water to survive is fairly equal. Therefore it is pointless.

Just leave this the way it is. There is absolutely no need for it in Cantr.

Though even if "thirst" isn't a requirement (and I think it would be way too drastic a change to ever be implemented in abalanced way, unless we're talking about Cantr III here...) it would be nice if it were still possible to make drinks. Either for healing or an alternative to food, or maybe for some other kind of benefit.

If it was implemented correctly.... and that's a huge if, I think your remark is senseless.
Of course Cantrians should need to drink water.

Why should they Nick? They really isn't any reason... They already need food, there isn't any reason to make that more complicated. It wouldn't affect society, it has no potential to improve the game...

I think I'm justifed in saying it's not needed in Cantr. Remember this is a game. If you want a society simulator, only implement changes that would affect it.
