If you could go out on the road and come right back to town, I would likely feel differently. But, if you are unlucky enough to go just after a tick.. it is 3 hours before you get back.

Though I recognize what you say and sometimes can get annoyed by it I do not see it as a problem. What I find far more annoying is obvious things happening that any normal human would react to getting completely ignored... Example; deaf girl gets run over by elephant, roll-plays it nicely, not overdone, and it is just completely ignored... How are you -not- going to see that when you're in the same town??

Pfft, savage animal attacks are a part of life, just like naked men in their twenties falling over from heart attacks. Hardly worth mentioning unless you're especially bored that day and looking for anything to RP off of.

I just wanted to point out again that I -do- think a character with a major issue can be played well, I've seen it done--the *hoarse female voice* on the radio is not the traditional kind but a good example of this I think, it's been interesting following her progress over several characters.

But well-played characters weren't what prompted this rant. I guess everyone criteria for 'well-played' differs, but my personal definition is that there has to be something else besides that one overpowering trait going on with the character, and I would go a little farther and say that the player has a responsibility too to remember that they're interacting with other human beings who are trying to enjoy the game too.

Anyway, not much to add to this, other than holy moly was I mad last night.

If you want people to play "normal" characters, then this is part of it. Any "normal" newspawn would be scared by an animal attack, of someone dying... It's a bit like what was mentioned before; normal role-play is not encouraged because it is so often completely ignored.

and actually people in real life would just try to slowly move out of danger, hoping that elephant would feed on the person, not on them
we can see that every day, when people turn blind eye to murders in the streets, accidents

some times you just got to ignore them. I am all for rping. But idiots playing retarded cliche characters? Nope it gets the 40th or 50th time around. That being said I would rather they roleplay then sleep.

I was in this town that I am not going to mention the name of, along with a bunch of us other sex-freaks, attention-whores, rapists, murderers, thieves, men with hypnotic swirling eyes, star shaped scars, tramp stamp tattoo's, feminine curves, larger than normal breasts, blind, deaf, sign language users, speech impediments and general odd dramas...

....and a new spawn popped up and asked for a job! Yeah I -know-!

Player A: (ooc: thats whats wrong with this game right there...why can't that newspawn be an individual like the rest of us?)

-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-
Now I am beginning to recognize the distinctive style that your chars have Marian.
You gave yourself away!
