Re: Intriguing apologize
If I were to run off and start my own game that was basically the same as Cantr, I'd do away with the Capital Rule entirely. Allow me to explain:
It would be stated upon character creation that all characters of a player share the same core soul. These characters can commune/communicate through this shared soul to whatever extent the player wishes. Furthermore, the core soul exists in a world with other core souls, and these souls can communicate and therefore share information, and then disseminate that information to their characters.
This would completely eliminate the need for a players department. Want to start a town with all your best friends? Fine. Want to be an adventurer mapping the world with 15 characters? Fine. Want to plot your next pirate raid over Skype? Fine. Want to actually do something in-game about that annoying person that you and your friends all hate? Do it. :p

So you would be playing one hivemind, not several individuals. I think that would affect the roleplay-element of the game dramatically.
I think ...

Not to mention it would ruin the game.
There is no rule that says I can't post as much I want. I asked my lawyer.

Hey! I recognize this game! It's called World of Warcraft. (and about 100 others just like it)

I do believe Doug is the only one qualified to make that statement.

There is some sarcasm in there, but it's mostly honesty. After seeing how the CR has ripped this game apart behind the scenes, I've started to doubt it's benefit, or at least the benefit of having more than one character.

Having once been on staff, I do know the back stage drama that occurs and can understand your frustration. At the same time, I believe that the CR helps define the game and to abandon it would so change the nature of Cantr that it is hard me me to imagine it. Personally, I did find that the more social involvement that I had with players, the harder it was to maintain the anonymity and independence of my characters. I think it is natural to be curious about who plays who, however as soon as that anonymity is removed, the nature of the roleplay and the game itself changes.

I don't believe the CR itself is to blame, as the reasoning for it is still quite valid in my opinion. The problem is in other things which probably shouldn't be discussed here, so I wont even bother.
Quite honestly, Cantr needs a reboot.

That's why I said it would be a different game

Good job Doug, I hear the rumor mills starting now...
Psst, you hear that Doug is creating a new Cantr-like game?

I'm sure that if you work on them everyday your coding skills will increase from "skillful" to "expert".

Re: Intriguing apologize
Once school gets out for a break, I am going to be brushing up on my coding skills. Ive been wanting to try some stuff, but I don't have the time needed to dedicate to it atm.
Oh yes, and a server would help too. I already operate a basic linux based webserver, but I am gonna be looking to go full dedicated once I get things rolling!
