Re: Oldest Turn Report
Why?
As soon as I'm done with my current fanfiction, I'm going to be writing a crossover, and my turn reports are very, very important in it.

I didn't at first. Now I regret it.
My first is from 3173, (I started playing at 3101) but I started keeping them all at 3217.

Re: Oldest Turn Report
Because I like re-reading old things.
Sometimes I miss the "old good days" too much.

Lol, I turn to my memory for re-living the old days.
And the things I don't remember? Well... Guess they weren't that good after all then.

Yup, I'm with Henkie here. If I don't remember it, then my character don't. I have had only two or three turn reports sent, for re-torturing myself over traumatic events.

Re: Oldest Turn Report
I like reading over old events and being reminded of little bits I may have forgotten. It is like, "Oh yea! That awesomely happened too!" Plus, if I ever wanted to write stories, it'd be easier. Sure, I can remember the most important parts, but it's always nice being able to read over each detail again.
It's like those deeply hidden memories or parts of memories that get drawn out again like a breath of fresh air added to what I always remember. Today, in real life, I had a few of those moments. Those memories just as cherished as others that happen to resurface for the first time in ages, even though other memories around the same time period may have come and gone a lot more frequently and recently.

Eh, to me it isn't about having a character with 'super memory' but rather about being a player who would like to go back from time to time to be reminded of the antics and lives of the characters, both past and present.

Re: Oldest Turn Report
I use my turn reports as my character's long-term memory. I don't think it's realistic that I can remember things for 10 other people, plus myself, so I rely on them heavily whenever my own memory fails.
I started on 1074, and I think I have all my turn reports. After I unsubbed, I archived them all as text files, and the formatting wasn't saved, so now they're all large blocks of text. My oldest character didn't even make it into his sixties, but I still remember those days better than these recent days, and I've been playing on this set of characters at least twice as long.

My memory just sucks.
Sometimes I'd like to have reports even for RL. That would avoid some kind of problems... xDDD

Mine too, but that doesn't mean I should start saving turn reports

They are there to be used if one wishes to use them, regardless of how good one's memory is. There's nothing wrong with choosing to play either way.
Personally, by using them, I can better simulate the things my character would or would not remember in specific circumstances, since my characters would likely remember things happening in their lives better than I would (it did, after all, happen to them, not me). There are little details that I'll re-read and think, "Hmm, they probably wouldn't remember that, but they'd definitely remember that other detail." even though I don't remember much more than an impression of the situation as a whole.

Re: Oldest Turn Report
I only kept turn reports for specific events. I used to have this crazy idea that I might actually transcribe some of these reports into narratives of some kind. For example... I still have some turn reports from the 930s on; events that took place in East Kol or the battle of Puk/Pok or some incident with the MacGregors etc.
This time around I have yet to keep any
