I know what you mean, I'm feeling a little discouraged at the moment myself.

That doesn't mean to say that there aren't some awesome characters in the game, but it's a risk to get too attached :|

Why do you think that is? Lack of new players?

Could be that or a variety of other things. But I don't want to hijack this thread so maybe it could be a discussion on another.

Starting my list, in no particular order:
Danyel Sidewinder (now deceased, but even his death was a big influence)
Miirkaelisaar
Dani (in Naron Forest)
Kronos
Simon
Domician Lore

I'll add more later, there's still some time left.

1. Edu "Flaco" Colina - The most amazing, enjoyable, consistent and awesome rp I've ever experienced. Made incredibly easy get into my char's skin from our very first -and wicked- start. A tantalizing mixture of cruelty, devastating instincts, delicacy, rage and tenderness... I felt an incredible freedom to develop my char's quirks, to create some ambiances... I always felt "ratified" by his roleplaying; amused, touched, or just amazed by his reactions: the rape, the threatenings, how he handled with her loss of memory, how he used to complete her sentences so they woulnd't notice it, how he looked after her and tried to make her "happy" and safe, those endless conversations, the challenging bets, how jerk he could be with the right amount of beer, his reactions when she was "studying anatomy" all covered in blood till her elbows to fight those memories, how he dealed with the guilt -and how she liked to push him to that extreme-, how believable it was the gradual and natural change in their relationship, the cold fights and the warm reconciliations, the confession, those last words... I will never thank you enough for all the fun and for your generosity doing such a big effort to keep your identity in the shadows for me till the very end (yeah, I won't stop doing that XD).

2. Belenguer. - Consistent and always enjoyable "bad" man. I've had the pleasure to interact with him from three very different perspectives: a male mate, a kid -briefly interaction, though- and a young woman, and it always was a joy. Since his player wasn't even registered, I feel the freedom to flatter him: witty epic dialogues with every char, but I had a weaknes for Belenguer, he was fun as hell. I still chuckle when I remember certain escene involving some "corpse football" ¿footcorpse? (my favourite escene with him), or that first romp when they were wishing so bad that someone would catch them, or the "creative marketing" with some traders...

3. Judith Millner (aka Cathy). - So full of edges, shades and nuances. So strict and precise... I absolutely loved roleplaying with her with every char of mine that meet her, but it was really especial with one. She was a demanding boss whose expectations was a big pleasure to surpass, a friend, a sister, a lover, a mother, a saviour...twice. I enjoyed so much the long talks with no words between that char and mine. Her best dance was for you.

4. Gertie Testarrecia. - ¡Gertrudis! Such an adorable grumpy midget. It was soooo funny trying to make her angry. Great mate, great friend, one of the very few women that Clem ever respected and the only who knew all his secrets -although we had our discussions about if he really considered her a woman or not xD- Always loyal to her crew even when she didn't agree with some things. I treasure the drunkie confessions, her sweetness when Clem was in jail -and those awful sandwiches with burnt meat!- and, of course, that last conversation they had alone on deck...

5. Juan Errante. - Another very consistent char. So easy-going and carefree, as well as creative... and reckless when he had the feeling the prize was worth it [insert half smirk here].
(I promise I will finish writing that story one of this days (: )

6. Wesley. - I don't think there's a single interaction with that char that I haven't enjoyed deeply. The witty puns, again the long conversations with almost no words, how he slided a bite of humour in each situation, sometimes cynical, sometimes even gloomy, also he is so caring about everyone... Absolutely superb, I am very grateful for the fun that char brought me. Also that interaction made me brave enough to spawn another English charrie. Thanks.

7. Versry. - Another one I thank for his awesomeness. He is guilty in a 80% of making Norma worth playing and also of making me go to class/work after a couple of fun sleepless nights. Captivating, interesting, haunting and consistent. A true gem.

8. Sketch. - There was a charming aura surrounding her, a certain sweetness almost naïve. She made me shed some unexpected tears when we said goodbye, not to mention my char. Fun and enthusiastic, a very lovely char to have around.

I'd have to think hard for those other two, but there's time to edit.

*nods* I doubted between that one and this one, or some mushy stuff... But I'm pretty sure he'll know why I chose that one (:

Hmmm... I would need more than ten, but I'll choose the ones I roleplayed with more in the 2012. Maybe some of them roleplayed only -or maily- with my chars, but still I felt I have a debt with those chars, they deserve to be in the top 100!:

1- Musgo: It was an autentic pleasure to rp with her. The way she reacts to every experience my char made her deal with, always surprising me and making all the story so interesting that I enjoyed it like reading a novel. In fact, I was a big fan of the diaries she used to write too! I have no words to define how complex that char was, the little nuances, every sound described to perfection even when she was travelling at his back and my char could'nt see her, the way she made evident her touch in everything, even when my char was in surly, non communicative day. I'll never stop saying thanks to the player behind for so many hours of intense, awesome rp!!! (But I'll never forgive you for not letting me know her real name!) ;)

2- Kuroa Jun: I could write 1000 post about her. So many cantr years together. The very first time my char saw her, he knew he wouldn't let her scape. It's hard to roleplay a long relationship without losing the passion of the first times. But it was kind of easy with that char. So interesting, with so many lights and shadows inside, always enriching my char, making his life complete. It was difficult to keep up with such a great rp, I did my best efforts writing to be level with the way the player behind wrote, the poetry that always impregnated her words. I could see the delicate changes in Kuroa across the years, but always being consistent with the character. It was incredible how she managed to show what tenderness was to my char, every moment during the long journey together was a pleasure to rp, and I think I owed her a big, big praise long time ago.

3- Belenguer: He was a total jerk most of the time, but oh, such an irresistible jerk! He didn't need to exxagerate that he was a tough guy, it was so natural in him. Maybe he wasn't the most active char in cantr, but when he woke up you knew it would be funny. Great dialogues, great leader, great description. He definitively deserves to be here.

4- Clem Buterol. "The engineer" of the Espíritu de San Buenaventura, I loved him! The best sailor I my char could travel across the sea with! Very smart, sometimes-a-bit-too-much-smart! He gives my char the complement she needed. The best company for some beers in the tavern when the ship docked in a town. An autentic rascal with the girls, like if no one of them could be as important as a "floz condenser" or a "sheavez"! It was so enjoyable to be with him and the crew in the English Islands... always generous, creating new situations to share with the local people in there. I'll never thank this char enought for the way he makes my char happy until the last moment, she had the death she deserved!

5- Kildare Bitterleaf: Maybe I liked this char more in the 2011 (in her younger years, long braided girl! ), but in 2012 I could roleplayed with her from another perspective and it was very, very enjoyable. Very hard too!, my char had to fight for every inch she let him in into her thoughts and feelings. "Like chars from a small town in Maine, in a book by Stephen King!" ;P

6- Magdalena Von Muffin: I had the chance of roleplay with her with two chars totally differents, so I knew this chars in two different perspectives, both her ¿sweet? side and her cynic or tough side, and even if I didn't like her a lot at first sight, I had to admit that Magdalena became a great char for me. She was able to create situations where the chars could fly, it was very easy to get into the character's skin. I'll never forget those long, deep conversations...

7- Clarion: Lot of musical and poetical talent in a young girl with a pair of eyes coloured like the sea, where you could read the storm, the fog, the calm... She amused the last years of my char, It was great to see how the "apprentice" surpassed the "master". I regret that my char was not very awake at the end, cause she was cheerful and active, always driving him crazy. My char was very lucky to have her at the end, and so I was to roleplay with her.

8- Dalriada Larssen: She had an adorable clueless touch, with a fire inside that -I fear- no one was able to let out. Complex, sweet, calm -soooo pretty with her new clothes, granma style!- with an interesting story at her back that molded her personality.

9- Vermillion: An awesome physical description, and a personality that fits it perfectly. Roleplaying with him was a vey interesting experience, and I'm glad that my char could have a great time with him, discovering his story and maybe being a small part of it.

10- Lizzie Borden: It's a pity when a sleepy captain -a great captain, need to say!- leads to a sleepy crew. An unexploited char, in my opinion, because the little time I had to roleplay with her I had a great time. Serious, a bit rough, almost rude sometimes, but always wise. She deserved a song I did never write...

Well, then, allow me to add someone else to the list!

Lux Lager - She's such an amazing character! She sticks out to me because of the sheer -depth- of her. Time after time, she has surprised me with her actions. When my character interacts with her, a little bit more is always revealed about her, and it feels like I'm going on an adventure into her character's subconsious. And what a marvolous mind she is! Kudos, kudos, kudos!
