I don't think the most active ones are always the best rps.
Many of them are quite similar to each other...there can be only so much playing with carrots and grapes before it gets old.
There are seldom any active rps that play mature characters...they very often behave like children.

But that's just my opinion...

I think all the ones who play without being as effiicient as possible should feel good about themselves, because the game isn't supposed to be won :)

Hey hey hey!

What about that Brian Welch character near Krif? LOL. He is a little over the edge sometimes, I know. What do you all think?

Whoa. I don't get that at all. He seems pretty passionate. What does he do that irritates you? I think he is very dramatic. But hey, he's just passionate about his opinions and point of views (so it seems). Its funny how he picks on Rick though. I think if Maynard ever came up missing he could (if he put effort forth) make a decent leader.

Well I think that soon enough I will give everyone a char they can love to hate. Sooner or later, the hub of my chars world will be his. Mwahahahahah!

McFeely>

I see Brian Welch and Rick as crule and cynical characters.
The way they kill off people just for talking bad about Krif is almost psycopathic.

Still, I don't have a problem with the way they act, but a decent leader?
I don't think so...
(Fact is, several of the Krif guards deserted and left after seeing Brian and Rick behave like rogues rather than leaders.)

Let's not discuss this on here...Maynard will find out what's going on when he returns to Krif, and the situation will be dealt with IC.

I find that the more I rp, the quicker I run out of time - makes sense I guess, but I find the time issue a big factor in how well I can rp. For instance, one of my characters has been rping alot lately, so i have no time to do it with my others. Drop the number of characters I have, you might say, but I can't. All but a couple are too interlinked with other's, and have their own interesting lives. This may belong in the time limit discussion, but I wanted to express my limited opportunities to rp here. The more I play, the better I get at, thus the more time it takes. Perhaps if our time increased the older our characters got, we would have better rping in all towns.

Why exactly does better role-playing take more time?

Better role playing leads to more interactions with others, thus more role playing and more time. Also, it requires much more thought than just talking, which can take up time as well.

Saying nothing but a few words takes no time. But trying to say somethiing more complicated and taking into account what has been siad and what is going on around you does.

If I've got something long to say that requires looking around and or typing something long, I log out, write in notepad what I want to say, log back in and paste it in. That saves some game minutes.

Also reading everthing that goes on in an active area espically if people go on for a bit take a long time. Sometimes but rarely, I will save the whole events page to a file and read it offline.

If you don't care to RP, knowing everyone's name doesn't matter. If you do RP it does. On a long events page you may not get all new people named before the events page shrinks to more recent. I the back borwser button to get around that. After I name and before the events page reappaers I back up to the old events page and do the next name.

Note writing also. Always cut and paste. For some chracters all local notes are stored offline for when I need to figure something out. Not really an RP thing just a game time saver.

These little work arounds save bandwidth too.

But since my real time is limited....

Mostly I don't do all of that. I just pick which chracter gets to be RPed that day. Picking ones where others are RPing that day or recently first. This leats the loud towns be loud and the busy towns left to their work.

Travelling helps also to narrow the RP choices. That was a recommendation from another player that really working for me.

I have a tip for people who don't get the whole "rp'ing" thing as much.

First of all when a char thinks------*Thinks- john is retarded*
IT is thinking and thoughts can NOT be heard!

I've noticed some people see that...and have their chars get all offensive and have them say..."I'm not retarded"

Well ya can't do that!!!!
My char didn't say.."HEY RETARD" ....she didn't say anything..so how does the char know ...that she thinks he is a retard? They don't.
The only way they could do that is if they read minds, and the last time I checked we weren't supposed to have chars with ESP!

YES, you the player see...that my char thinks your char is retarded...! But your char does NOT know that she (my char) thinks that, unless she's STATED IT....SAID IT.....!!!!

Yes your char can say.."I get the impression you don't like me, or your body langunage..would suggest you think I'm retarded..."

But ya can't run around stating that my char thinks your char is retarded for fact..just because my char..*THOUGHT* something!!!! You can't say she SAID you were retarded! Because she didn't...!

EXAMPLE

Ryan says: " I hate you all"
Sheryl says: *Thinks Ryan is a retard*

Ryan does NOT know that SHERYL thinks he is a retard. Thus he can NOT say "Sheryl just called me a retard"

Ryan Says: "I hate you all"
SHeryl says: "*Thinks ryan is a retard, scrunches her nose and looks to him as though she would puke* YOU ARE a RETARD RYAN!

THEN ryan knows ....she thinks it!!! And can say she called him one! because she did.

Ryan says "I hate you all"
Sheryl says "*Thinks ryian is a retard, scrunches her nose and looks to him as though she would puke*"

THEN ryan can suggest sheryl.."May not like him" or..that he Ryan gets the impression she is not "fond of him"

Maybe I'm just a jerk, but I never really like it when chars explain how they're feeling, since in RL you can't really tell what someone is thinking...Usually I try to make anything evident through actions and whispers and side comments and the like...Buuuuuuuut that's just me and what do I matter? :P
