In other games, when it's an anniversary, give away things or let you get things that only those who live the anniversary may choose to have. For example, in the WoW, new mounts and pets; I think it wouldn't be difficult to do for programmers or for people in the RD.
A new object created for the occasion which can then be modified after the day of anniversary (so it would be something special) to get other thing and keep a job well done, or a object (which already is done) modified for this special occasion.
Suggestions:
-The fireworks I like it. It's original, fun and for a celebration, but I cannot imagine how to do it within Cantr (without only roleplay). Still, I think that is a great idea.
-A new food or drink (an alcoholic drink or a new pie).
-A new jewelry or clothing.
-A new vehicle.

Re: 10 (uptime) year anniversary on 3650.
Along the lines of what Theda is thinking, perhaps we could offer an upgrade to an existing in-game item. The upgrade would require the construction of a special object in the came, that when combined with another item, would upgrade it. This special object would only be available for a limited time, and then RD would remove it from the construction list. We could offer upgrades of several things, so we don't have to limit it to one item.

I like the ideas in the last few threads. Though it should be something that most active characters woulod have a chance to make.
Maybe something that would give you a special emote that comes from the game itself instead of originating from a character? E.g. "1234-5:67 You see <character name> fly his feather kite high up in the air" or whatever.

Could be made both. Special items and special emotes.
(I loved the kite xD)

Maybe a kite would have feathers, large bones (or wood?), and sinew (if we're avoiding string).

Re: 10 (uptime) year anniversary on 3650.
*bump*
We now have about 2 months to decide and implement. These are the suggestions so far:
1. Small temporary design change. Gold banner + text. Will happen
2. Raffle
2.1 - 1 miracle to happen, with certain rules.
1. Ground rules for miracle option:
-it can't harm another player's character (no asteroid crashes)
-it has to be possible given staff resources (no recoding the whole game)
-it can't be otherwise detrimental to the game, as defined as something that would lose us players
-it can be done privately or publicly
2.2 - 1 select what you want (under certain restrictions) from accepted suggestions that will start getting developed.
3. Implement fireworks (should be easily implementable by common resources). Create an event when fired.
4. A new food or drink (an alcoholic drink or a new pie).
5. A new jewelry or clothing.
6. A new vehicle.
7. A kite. Maybe something that would give you a special emote that comes from the game itself instead of originating from a character? E.g. "1234-5:67 You see <character name> fly his feather kite high up in the air" or whatever.

I really like all suggestions, but if I have to choose, I would like the fireworks and kite because I think are the most spectacular for the occasion.

4-6 seem a bit ordinary, but I'm definitely behind the other proposals. No reason why we can't do 1,2,3 and 7 all. Most games don't last 10 years.

Re: 10 (uptime) year anniversary on 3650.
We should keep this thread moving, since we have only slightly over 4 months now to do this from concept to implementation.
Step 1: Make a final decision on what is and is not going to be offered.
Step 2: Design/Concept: In the case of the raffle (if selected), how many prizes to give? Who is eligible? In the case of special items, are they limited edition items? What are the building requirements?
Step 3: Advertising: The players should have enough lead-up time to get excited about it and talk about it.
Step 4: Implementation

Addicted started a thread about it: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22812
We should probably decide on the rules as soon as possible and add to that thread.

I think this is a good set of basic rules. We can add to them later if needed. I'll go ahead and post them now.
For the suggestion option, it should be reasonable to implement, given our resources, and also be fairly fleshed out already. For example, a specific new combat system hasn't been agreed to, even though it's been agreed that we need one. Maybe the player in question could have a look at the Dev. Forum for ideas.

Hey, an idea from, me.
Meteor shower. Results in an event for every character outside, like "You see beautiful meteor shower, blah blah blah". 100 objects called "Meteor" would be randomly distributed in habited locations. They would be of no use (at least for now), just could be collected.

45 days to go. Is anything being done with this, or has it been shelved?

Re: 10 (uptime) year anniversary on 3650.
Considering is has already been mentioned throughout the general player-base, not doing anything would be a bit of a letdown and could tarnish the credibility of staff.
