in one war about 10-15 people die, resulting in serious damage to our players' population

edit: and that's why i strongly support idea that getting 100% damage shouldn't equal death but disabled state

And that`s why I support unlimted healing. To make the madness last.

if you mean unlimited healing while offline, then I can't disagree
both equal to pretty much the same

I mean, unlimited near death states.... If I was to be put in a near-death state, eat some healing food regaining all my strength, fight back against the aggressors, and then log-out for 20 minutes. If I came back on, and had been attacked again, I`d like to be able to heal again ad infinitum, so long as I had the healing food to do it. I would also like the healing foods to restore energy. That or, tiredness significantly reduced. So one could have very long intricate battles.

The near-death state as currently proposed where you drop all possesions, with limited healing capacity, seems self-defeating. I don`t see how it changes much.

Difference between robbery and murder-robbery, for example?

This will end when all these robbed chars are now locked up in a room to starve to death. Still dead, now it just will take longer. The idea is to not get caught when you rob someone. They are now live witnesses.

I had a character almost start some sort of a war with the Macgregors, but he got dragged by a third party who wanted to get on their good side I think. So that ended that.

The Blackrock war did have a lot of anticipation, preparing, and role play beforehand at least. It's hard to role play the actual fight when you're clicking like your life depends on it..and this wasn't with buildings, it was with boats. The Blackrock war is something interesting to talk about both OOC and IC even now. There's a catch though: a lot of characters died. The aftermath wasn't so pretty, and things just seemed to decline after that.

I missed that war because my character knew his wife would be inconsolable if he went off to fight. Andur O'Shan practically begged him. That battle, from what I've been told by numerous sources, was truly epic. Since they knew exactly when the Blackrocks where going to dock (because the Blackrocks underestimated the weight affect of their vessel and thought they'd dock instantly, but instead it took an hour), everyone was online on both sides. The number of combat hits that occurred the instant of docking actually lagged the server. The Blackrocks undocked so quickly, that the killing blow on Rau Nick landed -after- they undocked. Truly, truly epic. I probably would have had an irl heart attack if I'd been involved, because I was emotionally over-invested in my charries back then. The fallout of the bloodbath was also interesting to live through, with bodies being delivered back home to their loved ones back on Noniwrok.

Yes, Noniwrok went downhill after that, but honestly, it was worth it. It was the most fun I've had ever in Cantr.

Yes, I'm not saying that I regret the war happening, but I wish things would have gone better afterwards.

So maybe I wasn't the only one lagging then.. That's not a good time to have lag. And good thing there was another guy on his boat.
I think that's the only time that I've set my alarm clock for Cantr.

Characters die, that is what makes Cantr worth playing IMO. Ive had chars killed for the stupidest reasons imaginable. Argument with his wife, refusing to speak when he only spoke to one person in his whole life (did write notes though), because the Rau is sometimes a flipping maniac, for trying to flee when he had permission to do so, crazy ass Sunflower.:P I think if I had to play all my chars for rl years and never get new ones I would be bored out of my skull. Six of my fifteen are leaders and Ive been playing for less than three years! Others aren't leaders because I flat out refused or because I have some new ones... go newspawns!

That being said yes history gets lost when chars die and "empires" collapse but this comes from players not wanting to continue on with what was there before. Aragon's law note is dated 2473, Baaak's law note dated 2204. Are they going to change anytime soon? Not likely other than the names.

Most of the alliance's losses came when they stupidly tried that amphibious landing on Burgeo, right? They docked and were either slaughtered on their ships or drug into buildings. *glances at Woody Blaire*

I don't really know. I don't think I even knew what turn reports were back then, unfortunately. I do remember that there was some sort of fight at land too, but my character wasn't there. Some were killed at sea too, at least those who weren't awake enough to eat healing food.

Who was your character with? Were you one of O'Shan's people?

The Karnon Army/Imperial Republic. :D There were at least seven deaths from that war on the alliance side that my character knew about, including a Senator and a Commander (and some De Danaans).
Edit: The only death I remember actually seeing was the killed Commander at sea who didn't eat healing food in time.

My Karnon Commander character was one of the first Alliance casualties. They landed and he was dead instantly. The poor guy was one of those lifelong soldiers that got a little bit screwed with awkward fighting when skills were implemented. (Though I didn't complain, I supported skills at the time) It was a better death than my Blackrock, which I'll always be pissed about :p
