I think they should give me poison so I could kill someone. Not at all speaking about a certain Blackrock leader, why would I? ;)

Every healing thing in cantr is heal all. Or did you mean something to cure damage and tiredness?

I mean one ounce heals 100% damage and 100% tiredness, sneezing, faintness, bad breath, and acne, whatever ails you snake oil will do the trick. :D

It even makes you the next animal you kill drop steel instead of dung.

I've made a couple of newspawns recently, and I don't know if it's just bad luck with their spawn locations or a more widespread thing, but they've basically been completely ignored. Everyone awake is wrapped up in their own drama, and nothing at all is going on on the higher levels as far as goals for the whole town go, with everything already being built.

Now I've had this happen 'Then' too, in the bigger towns where there's so much noise it's easy to get lost in the shuffle, but in my experience an active newspawn in a smaller community who was willing to work used to get pounced on immediately, with the leader practically falling over themselves to try and convince them to hang around. (Usually just so they had someone else to do the boring jobs like long inside jobs and repairs, but still, if you talked a lot you could get promoted quick, sent on trading missions adn etc.)

Now, it's like the sheer amount of stuff has reached such a critical mass that no towns or established characters even need anything anymore, so they don't need people to do anything, and so unless they're going out of their way to be helpful just for the sake of it, newspawns looking for a job and a way to work their way up in the world out of luck short of someone important dying right in front of them. I never thought I'd miss the days of being stuck inside at a smelter for a year just to earn a few grams of iron, but here we are. :(

Who knows though, we might just be in a transition period, people may eventually get tired of all the 'very old' people standing around holding all the power and doing nothing with it while the town stagnates and falls apart around them...or maybe, hopefully, a more wide-reaching decay system will be inplemented first, and things will start happening again as all those old abandoned vehicles and buildings literally start falling apart.

I do agree with you, having just come back from an extensive hiatus from Cantr myself, that it seems harder to become ~involved~ in a town than it used to be, if only slightly so.

That being said, in my opinion, I find you just compensate "now" by being a little more creative with your characters, and creating/pursuing your goals yourself..ahhhhh...really just like "then". Usually gets other people involved.

Can't just sit around waiting for something to happen, then blame everyone else for being to busy to notice you. :P

There's only so much you can do with a bone knife and a bunch of buildings you're not allowed to enter though. :(

Which reminds me, it's kind of amusing that so many people still seem to have an instinctive reaction against anyone even thinking of breaking the Big Four, even a town that's had no functioning government to enforce them in years.

Well you never know when someone might die inside and if there's no government, technically the citizens were also breaking the law if they entered buildings to check if anyone died inside, so if the almighty laws say that they're not allowed to enter then surely they'll want to ensure that no snotty-nosed newspawn will get the pleasure either. Entering shops is a bit different, though. Although some places might be called shops or stores from decades back and not actually be used for that purpose, there's a good chance to get screwed, but at least then you can use the excuse that you were just looking for the shopkeeper. And I think quite many towns do list some buildings that can't be entered, but not like you could walk into privately owned homes in real life either.

Problem: Newspawns can't be trusted with even the smallest of projects 90% of the time.

Solution: Ignore Newspawns until they prove they can be trusted.

Then: A player would spawn a person, and try to make the location around that person interesting.
Now: A player spawns a person, and if the location around the spawn isn't interesting, they kill off their person.

Really, since returning I am shocked how my new characters (now most of them a whopping age 22) have become some of the oldest people in their towns. Really? What happened to trying to making an area interesting if you think its dull? It shocks me.

Wow, I would say the opposite! When I played three years ago, it was the opposite.

At the end of the day, without statistics, we can't really say anything accurately.

The concept of "back of 05-06" made me depressed over how long I've played this game (all on the same account... never had no characters since 2003).

After that I forgot the point of this thread.

I disagree, I have three characters on three different island and all three are successful. None are older then 24 and all are active in there respective towns. Be it fairs or working in a company.
