Lets just say if you caught me in October or December I'd have said "HELL YEAH! $5 to play ALL I WANT!? AWESOME!"

Then after about three or so months I'd have been, "Wow... okay, well its not a bad game but not worth $5. I kinda want my money back, now."

However, programmers (or anyone) should get paid for their work. I'd just "miss out" if it started costing money... is all. (That's not the point of this thread... well kinda, but whatever.)

I have been (and will continue to) be content to play a few $/month to play online games if required. However, I can't imagine this type of game gaining many subscribers using this model. Perhaps if you break it into the usual free/premium membership, but honestly - pay for play brings a whole raft of new issues. It means the player base will expect active development, for starters, plus a whole higher level of quality (interface etc), and professional level support.

Makes much more sense to stick with donations, IMHO.

I think I read somewhere that most of people who donate to Cantr aren't even playing anymore, they just think it's worth keeping alive.

That's true, and also scared me into chipping in a few bucks a month. Fear is a good motivator.

I would love a Cantr where a $5 a month payment would give a few perks. I have ideas of exactly what but I'm not telling you sheep.

Yes... one moment you are in a pickup with a strange woman, the next she has driven off with your clothes and you just can not seem to stop sneezing.

There's (almost) naked women (and men) all over the place in Cantr - and still you're not satisfied! :)

Either you donate all your fucking money to Cantr RIGHT NOW, 'cause, you know, accidents could happen at YOUR house, too!
