On my first account, the answer was yes, yes, and yes. The weirdness came from the false sense of familiarity that I developed for the player of that character in question. It made me more comfortable in talking to them than I normally would have been for someone that I really knew nothing about. I certainly hope that never happens again. One of the many reasons this time around, I don't want anyone to know who I play.

It's happened to me, both in romantic IC relationships and not, but I never like to know the real face behind the character. It ruins part of the game for me. I try to avoid my brother's characters like they were my own for that reason, because I know how he talks and it comes out in his charries
So, to answer your question, yes, but I never knew the player.

Ditto. Although, I often end up just guessing who the players are from the I AM thread, but it doesn't bother me so much since I just don't communicate with them.

That's why I don't read that thread.

I'm far too curious about what things go on outside of my own little Cantr world.
I know, I know, I bring it on myself. Still, though, I pretty much keep forum information in a separate part of my brain that my own character personalities and such.

I've been avoiding this thread, but I'm going to answer it for my own form of therapy, I suppose.
As a bright eyed and bushy tailed newby roleplayer last year, I was lucky enough to spawn my second character in the same town as a character I feel is the best played in cantr.
My character was slowly drawn into a very imperfect but brutally honest relationship with this character. The quality of roleplay was incredible and I put a lot of work and emotion into bringing my own RP onto some sort of par. I was never going to be as good, but I impressed myself, looking back.
I later found out it was another female player, which didn't really affect much, but I found very interesting.
Their character eventually got sleeping sickness, and both me and my character obsessively checked on them for IRL months, eventually giving up. I felt empty and betrayed, because I had invested so much emotion in the relationship. It was around this time most of my characters suffered a similar personality shift (which I have tried to fix since and think I am succeeding) and my roleplay suffered greatly (it still is).
I have drawn a bit of a line for myself since, and would like to think I play a bit more detatched, because for a persistant world, relationships are destroyed as quickly as leaves are scattered by the wind.

Happened to me twice; once knowing the player, once not.
In relation to the first, where you knew the player, did things get weird then?
This is a good question. Although I usually did not get attached, as I coincidentally entered into additional ic relationships with the same player, I became attachéd to the player, too. It was a difficult balancing act, but I did feel profoundly connected to them.

I usually have the same experiences.
