Really? You like the food system and all in cantr? I think it's really bad the way it is... People don't take bakers and cookers seriously. They just have no chance of business. No one is going to pay them for their pancakes and rare nice pizza if they can collect some spinage in a day that will feed them for many others... It's sad those roles are kind of ignored... It's possible for the government to do something about it though.

Yeah... they are mostly used only in parties by wealthier people. -_- My richer characters enjoy all the fine foods they have. I wish farming wasn't as common or as rewarding...

1: No charge to play this game! (I really am surprised nobody had said this...)
2: The concept that you really "can be who you want to be"
3: When players remain in character, even when they know it can cost them their lives.
4: The freedom that the game gives in pursuing your characters goals (with a few exceptions here and there)
5: Sheep
I honestly cannot believe I did not see one person state that they get all they enjoy for the low cost of....nothing.
Sure, this game has problems, but when it is working, it is one that captures your imagination, and inspires creativity, much more so than others that you are forced to pay for.

Do those other "text" games have the same quality as Cantr? Do those other text games have the support Cantr does?
Oh...and I want to add another...
6: Seeing or hearing something in RL that makes you laugh inside because it makes you think of cantr.
Example: I switched on the TV and was watching the news, and there was a report of an assault. Not normally something to laugh about, but when the reporter gave the following description: It was reported that he was a man in his twenties wearing nothing and armed with a knife that I really could not hold back a small smile.

1. It's free.
Simple enough, if it wasn't free, I wouldn't have started playing it. And as it stands, if it started charging, I'd stop playing rather than pay and keep playing.
2. Everyone has an equal chance to get involved.
There are no limited positions, no special features only for those in particular situations or who have been playing a certain length of time. From the outset, you can go and do anything you like, you've just got to work out how. And the 'how' doesn't necessarily involve having to suck up to other players or their characters.
3. A wide range of opportunities.
There are so many businesses you could start. There are so many types of personality you can play. There are so many towns you can travel to. There are so many people you can meet. There are so many things you can make. There are so many clothes you can wear. There are so many jobs you can have. No character is ever the same, and you can always find something else to do if you get bored with your current role in society.
4. The slow but relentless pace.
I don't have time to play games where I need to log in frequently. But I do like games which keep on playing while you're not logged in. Cantr is pretty much the only game I've played which keeps playing when you're not logged in, but doesn't penalise you much, if at all, when you go away for a few days and can't log in.
5. People who roleplay really well and inspire me to do better.
In the same way bad roleplayers spoil the game, good roleplayers make the game great.
