There is this Island in the Chesapeake Bay, near where I live, where the people still speak early colonial English... much like the native accent.

Please don't go too far off-topic ;) ...

Missy, I have a standard text to post of forums. I'll post them here. Is that what you mean?

I hope 'advertisement' for a free, non-profit site is allowed:

Since about two years I run an online, multi-user roleplaying game in which players create their own society through their interaction with fellow players. You can create a number of different characters, who can make a career as politician, businessman, soldier, diplomat, or whatever you can think of. The game is being translated into Russian, which is only partly done so far (any help with this would be welcome!), but you can already play your characters in Russian. Try it out!

http://www.cantr.net

Most people experience that it seems boring at first sight, but after a few days (the game is designed to play like a few minutes a day) they're addicted!

Dang, I cannot find the other translations. I have this one at least in German and Russian. Any Advertisement member who has them? :) I'll search again at work as well.

Also, scottish, and irish is also just an accent, so is welsh, but they have there own seperate languages, Gaelic irish/welsh/scottish..
And i don't talk them just plain english, and i think that the average person speaks 0.9 languages too. :)

So THERE! :P :D

Well I was just kidding but sure if you want to take it seriously then go ahead and do so.

OR IN SPANISH: Su no mi avería usted no tiene un sentido de la perra del humor

OR IN ITALIAN: Andate via che vi annoiate, i gallinacei, femmina arrogante

uuuummmmm if american is just an accent then why does microsoft have setting's in window's for english(american) english (australian) and just plain old english plus a few other's from memory.the english language is one of the hardest to learn to speak and write because of a few reason's. one the same word can mean 2-3 completely different thing's. the same word can be spelt a few different ways.different countris around the world distort the english language to such a degree that someone that learnt to speak it i one country have trouble understanding it in the other country. a point i quite often learn after a few drink's in a chat room when i fall back into using words i learnt when growing up in the middle of australia. most people have no idea what i'm saying. that's when i'm not having terrible typo problem's.to tell the truth i admire anybody who learns english as a second language i mean i haven't even mastered it yet myself

Or to put it more politely, Scoop è una scopata ritardata.

Back on topic as I said if anyone can find a spanish forum I will promote the site for you, I'm not going to find it my self though my browsers too slow (or if you want the truth, I cant be bothered).

That reminds me of a similar discussion on the old Yahoo boards. I said the same thing.

Everyone knows that Microsoft is the world's consultant on what languages exist!

American isn't an accent, it's a dialect. Although there are many various accented subdialects within the American group.

The closest English dialect philologically to England that is widespread in America is the southern dialect found in the deep south, especially among the upper class of that region.
