Wow, I felt like that earlier on this year. Or was it last year now? I forget. But I just logged on every time it said "Your account will be deleted..." Thinking "Noooooo!" but I couldn't bring myself to RP. My charries all slowly starved to death... But a few of my really important ones survived. But never delete your account! It will plague you for the rest of your life! Like a book never finished! At least, with me it does. I still wonder what would have become of my old charries on my other account had it not timed out...

There's only so far I can go with a character before I simply do not care about it anymore. I reach this point every time I play Cantr. However, I do have a somewhat stronger attachment to this particular account because I have a few characters that I think are directly responsible to the RP environment of several other characters. I feel if they cease to exist it will severely cripple the RP of those other characters.

And then you'll feel silly! Keep your characters, keep your characters! You'll always miss your oldest when no one gives your newspawn any respect.

That's how I feel with my new character!

It will plague you for the rest of your life! Like a book never finished! At least, with me it does. I still wonder what would have become of my old charries on my other account had it not timed out...

I feel that with my last two characters that died. Both over very unsmart things... what a minute...unsmart isn't a word!!?!?!? isn't there any appropriate way to describe a lack of intelligence? One word my family made up years ago was "thmart."

But what to do when no one gives your oldest ones any respect? Granted that making them quirky makes them lose credibility but I hate it that no one bothers to talk to them or barely even to check if they're even alive. Currently my young people are much more fun than my old people. Well, being in your 60's is considered young in Cantr, that's the time when you have all the wealth you need but can still be relatively good looking.

Actually I wish people would start getting frail and prone to illnesses as they age, then it would be easier to let go of them eventually. Instead you just keep going even if you're very old, people mostly just ignore it and go acting like young people. If you rp aging then it's usually considered just annoying, some people might play along but the players still know that you're not limited by any mechanics.

In real life, life is a parable. In the beginning you are weak and rely on other people's help. Quickly you gain skills, status and wealth. Then you retire and start losing money. You also start losing health as you get older. Eventually you might be as helpless as a baby and again reliant on others. In Cantr, life is arctan x. In the beginning you are weak, you slowly gather wealth, then you get status and you gain wealth a bit faster, then you have everything you need and have less needs to gather, eventually ending the rise and it becomes a flat line. There is nothing more to gain but you are likely not to lose things either unless you get attacked by pirates. I would welcome that, it's the only way of dying where there's no need to blame the player for killing their own character or not taking good care of them.

Not true in my case. There's so much for me to do in Cantr and there's a long way for my characters to go, even though a lot of them own the town's storage. My richest character (yet one who doesn't lead a town) is the busiest of all in this regard.

Cantr also has a very big difference from real life. The years may go by faster, by that doesn't mean everyone thinks, role-plays, or works much faster. Instead, it's the opposite. It takes a while to feel like our life is complete, and usually the older we are, the more attached we are to the character. Most of us (or all?) don't really know the comparison of real age 60+ to Cantr age 60+.
For my new character (24), he came into the game rping, but there's barely anyone to be seen in the area, and no one real interested. Even when I entered into a building to talk to a couple people, I was threatened to never enter it again. Apparently I was considered another newspawn thief. Now he's just working for another older character until he can manage to get better equipment and a bike.

Well if you got a rich char wich has all he wants and his age is 60... i guess its time to accomplish dreams...get a boat and saill out of there... get of your city and raise a new one...get that char married  .... just do something of that char's character :D

and yes it sucks when you want to Rp but none of the people arround want... and just leave you there talking or they say: "work there! Me give that!"

I'm just frustrated. Think about this when even the closest person in your character's life just completely ignores what you said, most likely because they just reloaded the page so many times that the event was no longer visible and then they forgot anything was said. But it sucks when you're trying to rp and the closest person just plain ignores it because they're too busy irl. Ever stop to think what that might do to the character's feelings when they are treated like that? The character doesn't know there is a busy player behind her friend. Ok, I might anger someone posting this here instead of telling them straight but it just annoys me. I have PMS, okay? My period was supposed to start yesterday but it hasn't. Obviously my womb doesn't have a calendar. So I'm just oversensitive for two weeks straight and apparently I can't keep it from affecting my character's behavior.

WB!

So, did you keep your old characters, or did you have to start from scratch?

I kept my original ones, but a couple of them died, and three of them I'm not playing anymore... So, I guess that leaves me with four or five only..

Four is a good number.

I've been running with four characters for about a year now. Everytime I spawn a new one, I just can't be bothered. Cantr is, unfortunately, becomming a chore.

Yeah I was running on five for a while, I spawned a new one and regret it whole heartedly now - Dory seems to have got worse.....
