Yea... an island with no animals so that you need to kill PEOPLE with your bare hands just for some more weapons since you have no wood, bronze, steel...

Won't be too many players sticking around. Most will die from heart attacks or starvation.

Your primitive society will probably be just you digging potatoes and collecting seaweed while tending your wounds from those sabre tooth tigers your bone shield could not protect against. Year after year in the hope of a ship passing by loaded with smoked meat and wood. And all you have to offer is some bone shields and potatoes.
As a sailor, I would not be interested to deliver any wood there. You're buggered.

That acctually happend on the original swedish island that SCUBA was talking about. I belive that that society have died of when killed of by more developed societies. I haven't heard of them for almost a OCC year. Their name was 'Vargbröderna' don't know how it's translated. Wolfpack or Wolfbrothers. They used bagh-nagh's of bone and howled after every kill. Anyway they travelled around on the wood lacking island and demanded other characters to join them or die. And gaining streaght by time by using fear as a recruiting tool. And they where cannibals.

This is the main reason I joined the RD last time I played. I think most things should be possible to do whith the resourses that are local. If a society does only have access to bones and no wood, they will develope things out of bone instead of whaiting for a boat to come and give them wood. If you cant crush your hematite cause you have no woodhandle to your stone hammer, you just use a bone handle instead.

Unfortunatelly, this was not the way the RD thougt, and this time if I apply for staff, it would be th PD.

Stone buildings require iron which requires a trowel. To produce iron you need hematite which requires either a hammer or a sledgehammer which has a wooden handle.

You can build mud huts and grass huts if your island happens to have those resources. Bone bakh nagh and stone cleaver are pretty good weapons.

My Swedish character visited the island that doesn't have wood, picked up a boy who could've never seen the world outside his island without an outsider giving him a ride.

every one is already twisted, and the one who have "the spear" from the first discover of the island controls the society. mud huts, foods by hands, lots of bone knifes and needle. not to much thins to do, so the fun is lots of conversation and twisted situations.

I'd like to see a single-location or dual-location island, ie a penal colony, with the only resources being stone, potatoes and hematite, or limestone. This way, the prisoners can't escape the island using wood, and can't make iron without the slaver bringing the coal.

If you are a true RP'er then the lack of wood on these areas would make no difference to you at all. I think areas like that would boost RPing instead of killing it.
Anyways, your char wouldnt really know what he/she would be missing in an IC view, and only would realize it when/if someone visited the island.

1) Yes... I would love to be on places like that. The only reason I kill off my characters purposely is when its some place that I have another character nearby.

2) That gave me an idea. XD I need to implement that thought on some of my later characters, my second character already knows about porcelain, herbs, phosophorus, and all that... although, he is a scientist... he wants to discover all that, but I just say he's "heard" of that kinda stuff when he really didin't...

Yup, its all in RP. Just be the wild bushmen :) Bone clubs, knifes, claws will do just fine. I believe the major problem in such an island would be shields, cos animals are worser then eany of pirates.

I got strange idea.
There should be an island, with all recourses, spread over a few locations, say 3, or 4. but there's not a coast.
All the people who live there would be rich, but they can't trade with people from abroad.
It would be some kind of "Test-Island"
Not too much people spawning there, just a few.
And let's see how a society grows if everything's there.
We could have reports on the forum, it would be pretty cool reading stories from there etc.
What do you guys think?

The newbie islands were supposed to be that way. They would have all the basic resources so that people could even make bronze, but people couldn't leave. Another idea was that if they could leave then they would be teleported away and couldn't return.

Yeah, that's what I mean.
But there aren't newbie-Islands, right?
And isn't there an alternative for teleporting. It sounds too unreal..
What about "going on transport"

What transport? It wouldn't be called teleporting, boats would simply appear somewhere far away after undocking. But I think it would be unfair if people could first make equipment on a small island with everything on it and then sail into islands that might be lower tech level than the newcomers, especially since there's going to be no dangerous animals on the newbie island. So I think people should stay there until they die. Everyone is gonna get only one character there so people couldn't gang up their own characters there, unless they get several accounts. As far as I know, the planning was finished so I don't know why it hasn't been implemented yet. Or maybe it has... we just wouldn't know because you only get a chance to spawn there when creating your account.
