And i'll have to agree hand held containers are Useless. You can hardly roleplay with them apart from dropping them and claiming to throw it at the nearest thief maybe. "Hey, look i can juggle a fancy tin, took me forever to trade for the materials to show you i can drop it and pick it up" They are Useless.

I'm hoping when food rot is implemented that you give us a jolly good fair long warning of these things. That will be sucking yet again a whole lot of more fun from cantr, making more work involved building containers to combat this. Why does it always have to involve more work for already the overworked chars trying to get to terms with the new fuels and such let along food rot aswell. You can certainly expect quite few of mine to be hitting the floor because a fair few are traders, no way will they be able to get enough built to cope with food rot inside as well. Whats the point of having harvester that take new fuels to gather huge amounts to help them, when they will just rot what extra effort they put into gathering. In fact why is food rot inside even being thought of.???I've been avoiding reading this thread because the more i do the more it's making me not want to play in future times, because i know it will mean more ruddy work, and i already work my chars to the limits as it is now. When will they ever get time for just simple roleplay fun?

That made me spray my drink.

Also you can move things faster when they are inside of a container. You could have bits of several resources but you only drag (or pick and drop) the whole thing once instead of doing the same action for a million times.
There is a perfectly good strategic use for them. It may not be the one you're looking for, but it is still a perfectly good use. Therefore, it is wrong to say they are useless.
Also, my tin can allows me to control when I eat, which comes in handy on long trips across a desert or mountain range.

If I'm trying to make suggestions that are complicated, it's only because in my opinion they would give the game more depth. Like allowing people to climb in and out of a window but keeping the door locked could allow slow access to a building, which would stop thieves running through all the buildings within a few minutes. Or if I suggest digging a hole first before dragging corpses in it and covering it, yes, it would be more complicate while there are less than 3 corpses, but after that it would be easier. One could have 20 corpses and still only two projects (if not counting the draggings). Yes I know this topic is about containers. I'm just thinking that if changes are made then they must be made thoroughly in a way that works, not in some half-assed way that doesn't make things any better.

Nobody has never given you a wooden plate with a mixture of fruits, vegetables, cheese and some diamonds, yes?
The supposed rotting on floor inside buildings and inventories will be lesser than current normal rotting. It won't be a real problem to anyone (I think).

I take it you don't play mountain folk that rely heavily on every gram of food they have stored inside. I take it you don't have desert folk where the nearest food is walking around on four legs as well, tell that to them when they already struggle with food now. Tell that to the sailors who plan each gram while sailing to cover deep sea voyages here. Just how many wooden plates at 300g of wood to make are they supposed to make that only hold 500g a time that they will need to be of any help?Considering they struggle to get resourses like wood way into the mountains and way into the deserts as it is. Is it really adding a fun factor to the game or just going to make it impossibly hard for those kind of folk, it doesn't matter if you live where food is available to be gathered, but it's going to be hitting those that do struggle with food to live in remote towns and try their hardest already to improve their way of life. They already trade their best resourses for mere scraps of food. It may well be the killing icing on the cake for those struggling towns already.

Mix food rot and suddenly a bit of faintness along with a binge eating and those desert and mountain communities are well and truely screwed.

Actually, I have mountain characters, desert characters, and sailors. I can relate. I have tested it singlehandedly.
Life is too easy now. It was more challenging when we got tired from work and actually risked the chance of starving every once in a while. Want a fluffy life? Move to the village on the plains. Works peachily for me.

Well i beg to differ and the game will be losing my chars that work their arses off already in those regions, sure i like a challenge, thats why i have them there already. But i've other characters working their arses off to cope with new fuel changes coming more or less taking over their lives ingame and now this, it's too much to keep adding changes to their lives mid game when they already have to struggle and juggle foods as it is. They for sure do not have fluffy lives at all. They would move if they couldn't cope due to ingame problems, but this will be yet again a programming added problem forcing them to trade and build containers if they wanted to or not, using what materials they had planned for other things because they will have to and not at all by their choice.
All you hear on the forums is that people want more action, starving those that already struggle is not giving them more range to plan trouble ingame but cope with changes from programming add's. Now if they had any want to think of a town takeover next door they have to worry about getting things repaired, then making sure they have future fuels needed and now they will have to stop again midgame to get containers built so that the food they use to make fuels doesn't rot, and also take care of the food inside not rotting and what they carry to eat doesn't rot and looking yet again to trade more foods and materials due to programming and not a result of their living roleplay changes while playing. It just stops becoming a fun time to play when it's all plan plan plan due to midgame changes that they have no way to stop or be part of but just have to live with, it's me as their player that can only put their point of view across. So it will be RIP for them when it comes sadly no doubt about it.

I tend to agree with Makebeliever here. Rewards for infrastructure and production are more motivating to trade and cooperation than is punishment for just being alive.
We need more carrot than stick. Having a reason to build and find new things is good, and leaves choice. Too much rot disrupts this. But I also see fuels, and so vehicles, as luxury items. If you want your chars to have a simple or hard life, they can farm carrots manually. Having to postpone exploration and adventure because of rotting equipment, or sudden change in your food supply due to overeating sucks. A lot of us don't want to play that sort of tedium. I don't think current ground rot of raws is bad, it's a reason to make buildings, same with portable containers being added slowly before small inventory taint is introduced. There needs to also be a way to stave off equipment rot the same way, before that gets increased again. We need containers for objects. And while lag still occurs, like today, forcing people to log in often for repair projects is unreasonable.

Ok, if all the containers are ment for preventing food rot, then maby those containers could be bigger? So ok, salted meat could be put into medical kit and whith 1 kg of it you could travel long distances. But what if all you have is carots? What then? Other thing. in building containers. Now those are allso very small. Its ok that 200 kg of carots shoud be plased in couple of barels, but what about other resourses? I think there is stil much work at eany of containers before roting is implemented.
