Bridget? Company? Nothing? Wow, that brings up memories that I'm not quite proud of... back in my newspawn days.

Glad I'm 14 now. stupid 13 year olds.

I guess that would be whatever you feel most comfortable writing, and what you would think would turn out the most interesting and fun to read. I see it as writing about an example company in Cantr, perhaps to stimulate other players to try and build up similar companies. But from what perspective it is written exactly .... My guess is that Tanner Frost's perspective would be most fun to read, but you might feel otherwise.

Who did you play?

I actually don't remember. It wasn't Tidus though. If it comes to me I will let you know. He was in the 'Management Programe' (or what ever it was called). He came along when it was all fairly established.

Tailoring has to be the hardest buisness to run, purely because very much like a shield once you got one you don't need more when you have an eternally wearing pair of shiny leather pants or kilt and shoes, or slinky boots and skirt you don't need to think on them again. And if you get one up and running chances are more then likely you end up trading clothes for pittance of the cost in time it takes to make them. And because they don't rot means there are plenty of clothes around or you just strip the nearest body. I kind of see jewellry this way also. Some of mine look like christmas trees drowning in exquisite gold, silver, and diamonds that last for eternity. But the bonus they look pretty on the decription, so mine do make the effort making them. But trade for raw gold is so much better because of the other Electrical use of it. If they needed repairing from time to time those that like their characters looking fine will soon be heading to the cobblers or tailors to trade a tatty old pair of boots and clothes for a shiny new pair. And yes, *groan* as much as i hate repairs they are needed, if everything was eternal lasting it would soon be a cluttered world.with no real need to make anything new.

Banking is increasing in game but trading still outweighs it by a mile. And you can't help but trade with Bankers with a very large smile. Because as a trader its about supply and demand, so more often then not you trade for way above DOW, where as a banker will trade for your goods at the set DOW rate. So its an easy way to collect coins to reuse at very get rich quick rates at this stage ingame. hehe, and the last trade mine done for a two minute trade value of 4 days worth of work which earned then by banker trading near 100dow worth with one trade alone. But seeing as my char does it for the travel and gossipy roleplaying is just happy to keep on trading and keeps an iou note rarther then coins too much, and to keep the town going in resourses rarther then break them by wanting big payments, because they can see the flaw and wouldn't be fair to the town and for the coins to work and become established ingame. This is needed at this early stage of their making and spreading ingame.

This will change over time when coins filter through and people use them more and more, and to be honest it will make it more fair to the worker by doing so. But with the towns being such a mish mash of levels and way of living it's going to take some hard work getting there. Trading for my chars is my favorite business ingame and it doesn't go with DOW it's just a mere wikki guideline and if you think all trade by it... you are mistaken. They go with who needs what the most and what they have to offer that is going to trade well at the next stop. And trading has changed along the time mine have been playing because of the drill and quarry introductions and bigger amounts in quicker times to be found. The more transport there is now around the quicker things are becoming. And people are now more often then not getting paid in iron per day for their work where as before making iron was a whole lot trickier to do. Certainly not something you pay the mere workers in.

Also you can look at Clans/tribes/collectives as a business in itself a self sufficiant run business. Where team work without singular greed of wanting makes them very strong indeed. They soon amass wealth and because they work together become a power unto themselves. So teamwork in those cases is proven and show it works. They are nothing like the norm towns, they don't have set jobs they work together all pitching in to get things done, they so often have no need to trade because with enough to go gather happily they soon have what they need in mere days that would take someone working solo years to get.

Also there is already a thriving boat trading shipping business happening which you see more and more of ingame. This by rights should be a pirate hayday just waiting to happen out there on those blue oceans. Oops didn't mean to let that out.

I'm not quite sure I followed along with the banking spiel properly. :) Do you think you could reword it a bit?

I have actually had some luck with getting coins and a bank going in one location. We are actually starting to see some advancement come from it, AND the local tailor is getting more business out of the coins (as people don't have to pay with bones, hemp, and potatoes anymore ;) ). And factoring in supply and demand is bringing a few regular traders back who previously would have just traded elsewhere. Things that people really want or need get a significant adjustment in trade rate at the bank to increase the incentive.

So many years in that location without development has been replaced recently with more abundance. :D

Ermm no, don't make me here please, i'll only get get carried away and delete the lot because i don't make a good editor. Chances are people will see the spiel and fly over it anyway because it's not a flame thread or that funny, so pretty boring to some maybe anyway and they won't read past the first paragraph. So my chars trading secrets will be safe.

But what was ment was, as a trader you can trade dow work goods for a much higher rate getting more resourses then you would dow collection to then retrade those higher amount resourses gained to a Banker. To collect shiny coins instead of resourses with a big smile.

I had some success business wise with the Shortinazy Steel Mill. We made a potato harvester, bikes, boats, swords and shields, tools, and a library from a boat load of limestone in about five years to get the company going and attract people to the town. I figure with that kind of progress we could have become a multi town power with a well established gathering/trade system in another 5 years. It seems motivation and throwing out ideas worked better than anything else to get people to work for/with you.

Did the SSM outlive Charlie? It seemed like it would have taken another year or two to really get the company firmly established with all the essential tools and such so that any cookie cutter manager type could take over. And Charlie was the primary recruiter of temporary and semi-permanent help in the area.
