. . . and that's one reason why OOC-inspired names are discouraged. Of course, Turin Turambar was one of my character names, so I'm not really one to talk.

Never heard of him, scouts oath. *winks* Seriously, I have never heard of him. I got the name from a series that I like. I was dubbed a Knight by the city I live in. I used to just be John Locke.

Read the Webzine, look for A Ranger's tale, I think it starts in Issue 2, also do a forum search for "Ranger's Tale" and be prepared to spend hours of reading about John Locke...

*smiles* Now that name I know. John Locke isn't really a newspawn though. He is 5 years old or... uh... 25 I mean.

Do any of you even know where the name John Locke comes from? Apearantly me and the other guy took it from the same place.

History, I'd guess - Thomas Hobbes and John Locke were both well-known philosophers of the Enlightenment, and are often paired in history textbooks.

The character is "Lost" is named after the philosopher.

John Locke is also one of the main charcters in the huge TV show LOST. That is where I took the name from.

But that would be an OOC influence; therefore he shouldn't
Because he goes by the title "Knight" John Locke, there will be an adiquiet difference anywhere he need post it. Since he named him w/o OOC influnce of the in-game character, he's perfectly fine by usinging it no matter how famious the person was... Unless you think Ranger John Locke 's name should be spelled differently also for taking from a real life charater.

In game it's fine... to be honest even if he was wandering around [LOCATION REMOVED] then it would make for some interesting RP watching him get slaughtered for impersonation or lack of respect etc. In a completely different area it's not a problem. I have lost count of the number of Brandons for example.

I was merely thinking it might piss nitefyre off, but then I'm not sure he would care anymore either...

Was it really necessary to remove the location? I'm sure everyone knows which one. (Except for Elros... :P)
