With that vote thingie on the login page, I will vote everyday :). Only one thing... is it possible to let the site, which comes up when you click 'vote', open in a new window?

Yeah, whatever button I press, the new page opens up in the same window, very annoying. We want new window's!

BTW, I voted everyday anyway. 8)

And I love your new avatar Cosmo, very original.
Maybe an Idea for a game in the forums? "Guess where I am".
A riddle like that is posted every week in a weekly seafarers paper, which writes abt inland transport too. Every issue contains a radarimage of 6 miles radius. Very tough.

It's 3:47 EST time on January 3rd 2004 and Cantr is currently #1.

I just thought I would point that out as it's the first time I've seen cantr in the top 10 let alone 1st.

It was around 2.14 EST already at #1 ;). Forgot to mention that.

I'm trying to figure out how 11 votes gets #1 when Cantr has 118 votes and gets #2. The way they figure out the top 50 is really messed up. You only need 3 people who run the site to vote 5 and you can be #1.

Indeed, it is quite strange. However, we will still attract attention as we have so many votes.

This is the answer they gave me as far as to how it works;

Well, insofar as calculating who has the highest score, it's mathimatical. They take all of the votes, add them alltogether then divide them by the number of votes. Then it's just a matter of who has the highest average. So if you have less votes, say twelve, one bad vote will bring you down a lot, but if you have ten two hundred votes, a one wont bring you down more than one hundredth or one tenth. I hope I've been able to answer your question.

sincerely,
Remmy

But we are back to #1.

What Remmy says is true... We don't have problems when someone votes a '1'. But smaller sites, that are just starting out, will have a problem, since they only have 10 votes or so...

hm.. clever of that Remmy guy ;)..

We are back to #2 tonight. However, we can outlast them, with our tremendous amount of daily ratings and player support.

Still it isnt fair, even tho a "one" won't hurt us as much as it does them.

200ish votes against 17. The number of votes should also be a factor. It's easy to get 20 "5 votes", and have an average of 4.8. It's a lot harder to get 200 with an average of 4.7. A bonus would B nice, like 10%. Or raise the minimum amount of votes needed to appear on the top 50. If I created a dumb site and only me voting for it, I'd have an average of 5 :!: within just 10 day's.
Let's just hope someone takes a look at that site, doesnt like it, and votes a 3.
(I am not asking to cheat here).

Unless someone happens to be in an internet cafe right now  )

Have you guys thought about applying for a Gold Wyrm? I'd say try it. What have you got to lose?

I think it would be best if Jos applied for the Gold Wyrm rather than any of us as it is his site and creation.
