Looks like so many unfortunate events going on lately and I am afraid we may lose another good player soon. I hope they are fine and they find their tranquility IC and OOC. Life matters most after all...

Maybe/Probably. Although I do wish it would hit a few others as well!

Too true, and if this is who I think it is, I'll be going too. :(

I know it's not the same thing, but I've been guilty of killing off a few of my characters as well. If a character of mine sleeps, It's because I cannot find a purpose for them. And if I eventually decide to kill them off, it's because both I and themselves can't find a reason to live. Lovers? No, that cannot be someone's only reason to live. Loving someone is all well and good, but if you have no drive, nothing that interests you or something you can fit into, what is the point? And if I don't see the relationship as fully developed or meaningful, I have even less qualms about it.

But it's not like I don't feel bad at all. I feel a certain sense of failure and guilt every time I send a character off to die. But it's really when I've reached the point where I cannot come up with something for them. Sometimes my solutions can't even be acted out because it's the total wrong environment for it. Or people are derp and it goes right over their heads.

Then real life gets in the way as well. I venture on Cantr when I have the time and play the characters that interest me the most. It annoys me to no end when I see a character that I haven't played in ages since I lack interest and inspiration for them, and they are just taking up space.

So, I'm just hoping that if people recognize some of my characters that go off to die and they're all like "Wtf >:C", I hope you can forgive me personally. Life is just too busy for me to focus my attention on all 15 of my characters, and those that die, die because I know that even when I'm on, they won't get the attention they need, due to lack of inspiration and purpose.

And I usually don't rp the whole dying/leaving process because as I've seen many times before, they don't let you... xD; They force you to stay alive and throw food and comfort at you. Even though we both know it's not going to get better. Again, I'm sorry.

And Mitch, nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, don't leave us. *tackles* I'll miss our rp's too much!

Oh I'm not going just yet. I do have to admit that some things have recently made my activeness decline in game however. I've not been on near as much as I used to be and these days I have trouble getting myself to log in on most characters. There's very few I'm even actively playing right now.

I agree wholeheartedly, Mitch. Sometimes people need to let the game go for real life.... whether for time or for sanity or both.

Yeah, there are a lot of times where I'm just like, "eh." It's happening more often as well. :/

I honestly think what is missing now is depth... either that or the game is simply suffering from the decline or loss of some amazing players, or... some of us have just been spoiled. I definitely feel like the latter.. and as others have said, find it increasingly harder to get involved in the day to day. Which in a way is a paradox as it that prevents getting into deeper relationships with characters. But... the point is that I just rarely see the opportunities or characteristics that draw me in any more...

Real life has forced the decline of many of mine...and I would much rather play 3 well than sim 15, I still play a few out of duty, but now only truly enjoy two.

I think everyone follows the addictive fill all 15 slots, become overwhelmed and then cut back pattern, at least once. It is the curse of the game. But it is just a shame that now there seem to be less opportunists that thrive in those death of char predicaments, and more and more doom and gloom lost sheep that just give in because of it.

There seem to be less that want to lead and more that want to follow. Maybe that is just modern society reflected within the game?

It is so rewarding to really stick to playing 3 to 5 characters at most. At times it might be slow, but the characters end up much more fun.

Also on the subject of following/leading, I noticed the reverse in myself. I never used to lead characters unless it was into a locked backroom. Now the lack of leadership in some places annoys me and I take charge myself. I never used to do that and it's a nice change of pace.

That is exactly how I got into it, but without the backroom RP. ;) When I started I pretty much simmed for 10 IG years and loved it. I managed everything happily leading 3 small/growing towns. Then... when my chars started having relationships, that was when things got interesting, and eventually, more than a little destructive... I think I was in 10 at one point ..and some were way too much...

So... I made mistakes and learnt a lot... and ended up randomly finding solace in a particularly amazing and wise player that I cannot thank enough for everything. Even if they just told me what I really knew deep down, I needed that reality check. So thank you, you know who you are! You're the reason I'm still here... and why my Cantr world has been so awesome recently. :D

3-5 chars is definitely the only sane way imo!...

The way people habitually complained about leader characters on the forum in the years I've been here (much less lately, likely because there are fewer leaders to complain about now), this seems to be the only possible next thing to happen. Why risk playing characters that will just annoy everyone when it's so much easier to not take the position in the first place? The trend will reverse in time, presuming the game survives its current trend of player loss of course.

I think the only reflection of our society is laziness. lol It's far easier to complain about leadership than take on that responsibility yourself. With all the complaints on the forum, I expected to see more interest in the game for people to take on leadership positions when offered. Nope. Doesn't happen.

Heh. Several chars of mine, when faced with a poorly-armed void of power, are just waiting to take over - one already has.

I think it's a reflection of a person's personality IRL, as I'm not entirely adverse to taking leadership if it's a easy transition.

I have four leader characters at this point. (I had five, but one is dead.) I find mine often falling into positions of leadership or co-leadership. I often have my current non-leader characters push away from leading, but only to avoid having too much control over the game.

I knew you would say something ha. It's true that it takes a certain player to do it all, how you do so many, with so many other characters I have no idea. It used to be me.. and I could do it if I only had the dream 3 to 5, or no life outside of Cantr. :D But I doubt it, now.

Respect to you all, you keep the game going. But... more crazy leaders that give free bananas on arrival, more power hungry tyrants, more nudist colonies, more social filters please! I'm fed up of fluffy and fair. But someone else do it all, I'm way too lazy... Haha. *reclines*
