Should we not remove languages that already exist from that list? Like, you can play in Chinese now, and since it's written Chinese, that holds for both Mandarin and Cantonese then, right?

And are there people yet who want to do translation and marketing in Italian and Japanese? Would be cool additions :) ...

I want to translate Japanese. But marketing is not something I have the contacts for.

There are enough people for Finnish, Japanese and Italian now. Anybody ready to translate or market these?

Leet is not any more of a language than Pig Latin is, but I don't want to see people speaking Leet in the general English section either...

My Japanese is terrible but I can probably get some friends of mine to spread the word if we have a section for them.

Is "justyou" still playing? I remember them posting here only once or so. I suppose I could start translating Finnish if you think there's going to be enough players in the end.

I could translate Finnish also, but I don't know if I'm reliable enough for a long-term work. (Have played this only for a couple of days.)

More translators would be wonderful, but what the non-English areas really need most is increased marketing to help them increase in numbers to be comparable to the English/Polish regions of the game.

The Languages Department is generally looking for two translators per language, so that people have the chance to consult each other and find the best possible translation. This is particularly important when there are different variations of the language, such as Austrian German / German German or Brazilian Portuguese / Portuguese Portuguese, in order to make sure that players from everywhere in the world can understand the language used in Cantr.

Since all staff members are volunteers, you don't have to invest a certain amount of hours per week, but don't just disappear on us completely.

So, if you feel that you could help Cantr by translating it, please apply!

You might want to know that I don't know the languages myself that I voted for...but I can always find ways to help, especially with Japanese.

It would be easier to market the Finnish translation after we have done something first... "Advertising" something that doesn't exist is pretty silly. :)

It would be amazing to have Cantr in Finnish, though I still don't promise to commit myself into any long-term work. I tend to get bored to games after a while, until I get the enthusiasm again - I think this is the third time playing Cantr for me. 8) If that happens again, I'll at least let you know and not disappear completely.

How do I apply?

There are applications you can access from your account under Departments or some such link. I don't remember what it's called right now.

I applied some time ago already and have heard that people would get back to me soon but nothing yet... I wonder how much time I'll have once school starts again next Monday. And it's true that translating might take a long while, and many times people have quit in the middle, so unless a notable part has been translated, there's no mind in advertizing yet, like TS said.

...I suppose I could start translating tool names and such into notepad while waiting.

TS: The link should be called "Join the staff" or so - I have an Esperanto interface, so I can't say what it is in English.

Seko: The Personnel Department should get back to you soon. For now, you could already think about the translation of the buttons ("Location" etc.) and the events - those are the most urgent translations. No tool name comes up as often as "You see a man in his twenties talk to a woman in her twenties." ;-)
