Interesting.

For a long time now a very large percentage of new players are Portuguese and come from this website: http://pt.kioskea.net/faq/16165-jogos-g ... -cotidiana

But just creating an account doesn't mean you have characters in the real game. Most new players just have their account idle out, and then new idle players replace them. I don't know if the statistic includes players who haven't been approved.

Edit: Here's some hard numbers: Over a period of 6 days from day 4614 through 4619 there were 55 new accounts created. 33 of those were Portuguese.
At first I thought that you can create an account without having a character spawn in the intro server, but I think I was wrong. I wonder what the Portuguese intro server is like.
Over that same period of time, there were 3 new characters (meaning 3 new players) spawned in the Intro server for English.

Oh, I should note that even most new players who make it to the real game idle out.

Most of Portuguese newbies haven't ever log in after being accepted.

I know I should have prepare statistics for largest pile and global amount of resources in the world, but it's a quite time consuming task :(

Consumption of healing food
Instead something that is simple. Top healing foods used in last months. It's ordered by number of percent of health that were recovered using it.
I've removed spinach from the list, as it's a dual action food and people usually use it as nourishing food.

Code: Select all

Wow, honey. Illuminating. And apple pie is the only one requiring real effort. Can we see the next ten items on that list?

Next, what percentage of all chars are currently in a location with a harvester of rice, potatoes, or carrots?

Mead requires some malting at least, that's real. Wait, gathering tomatoes, corn and cooking it, and bananas don't count as real effort? Never mind, then.

I bet nearly all of that milk was consumed by accident on the eating tick.

Yeah I think this just underlines the point that honey is to common and easy to make.

I still think beehives should deteriorate or at the very least collecting it should be an active project.

Notice also that the drink made from honey is the only one on the list...

Right? I feel like milk is a highly addictive substance to cantrian s because of the # of people I've heard admit to drinking it this way

Somehow missed this earlier, but wow, yes, all that milk makes much more sense now. I couldn't figure out a reasonable scenario where so many people would just be guzzling it straight.

*Wiro wrote:Interesting statistics. Is it possible to know who has made the most "OOC character descriptions"? The ones you can assign to any character to remind you who they are?

There were no such statistics for a really long time. I even don't know if there are any traditions or guidelines regarding listing characters.

People in proximity of harvesters
sanchez wrote:Next, what percentage of all chars are currently in a location with a harvester of rice, potatoes, or carrots?

I guess this question is the same as "what percentage of characters are affected by harvesters?"
Out of 3616 characters being at least 22 years old, 1672 (46.3%) are in a location with a harvester.

To have another point of view, I'll ask a question "what percentage of people having access to one of these raws has also access to a harvester?" . So it's necessary to check how many are in a location with potatoes, rice or carrots.
So, again: out of 1986 characters being at least 22 years old and being in a location (or in building/vehicle there) with potatoes, rice or carrots, 1672 (84.2%) have access to a harvester.

It's also possible to make it more specific to exclude hermits and lonely travellers which are just passing by:
"What percentage of people having access to one of these raws and being in a location with more than a single character has also access to a harvester?"
Then: out of 1811 characters being at least 22 years old and being in a location with potatoes (or in building/vehicle there), rice or carrots where there's at least one other character, 1605 (88.6%) have access to harvester.

computaertist wrote:Mead requires some malting at least, that's real. Wait, gathering tomatoes, corn and cooking it, and bananas don't count as real effort? Never mind, then.

I don't know which definition of real effort is used, but from the point of view of diversity, honey and mead are worse than the rest, because they can be got in any land location.

Nourishing food
The most popular nourishing food (eaten automatically during the eating tick).
`amt` means amount
`perday` means average number of people eating it daily

It's based on eating events and takes the data only from the last 7 days, so it's better to treat it more suspiciously than the rest. Anyway, no data is guaranteed to be perfectly correct.

Abandoned resources
Now something about abandoned resources.
3-5% of resources of every type are lying on ground in locations which were not visited for more than 300 days.

Crumbling vs disassembling
Comparison of number of objects that have crumbled with objects which were manually disassembled in the same timespan (last 90 days). Sorted by number of crumbled.

Code: Select all

+------------------------+-----------+--------------+
|        subtype         | crumbled  | disassembled |
+------------------------+-----------+--------------+

| iron_carving_knife     |       44  |           20 |
+------------------------+-----------+--------------+

It's better to treat the data suspiciously, as some objects are not to be disassembled yet (e.g. most of weapons), others can be disassembled for not so long so there was not much time to disassemble them. On the other hand, if it were possible to disassemble them earlier, some could have been already disassembled before that timespan. So it's possible that `disassembled` column doesn't represent a long-term average.

Based on a list of objects which have visible state "crumbling" (so are most likely to crumble) it's possible to learn that 18% of these objects are lying in uninhabited locations (without any alive character).

Time for weapons needed to crumple
Number of days needed by a weapon to crumble into dust because of time based rot.

I have opinions regarding all this data, but I'm not going to post it here, as it's better for everyone to first draw own conclusions and discuss later.
I hope this way nobody will be biased, especially when there can be many different conclusions which are worth to be heard.

The fact that steel battle axes require a lot of repair time fits my personal experience. Battle axe repairs are often very long..

Greek, are there any stats on how many repair tools (whetstones, etc.) have been created and used in the last 90 days?

I feel a little bad about never once having made one. I've never seen any in the game so I'm curious as well.

There were no such statistics for a really long time. I even don't know if there are any traditions or guidelines regarding listing characters.

I think there's been several lists before, with the option to have your character removed by PM. Could also make one without names and just numbers of course.

I saw one character in a prosperous town mention making one as though it would be a relatively easy and simple thing to do. But I haven't made one yet either, or seen one in-game.

None of my chars have seen or used a repair tool either. Should try to do it soon.

Two of my characters made two each. The repairs went incredibly faster and the crumbling pile of tools were saved easily and quickly. Highly recommended, if you can spare the expense.
