Cantr II is not currently available. How bad is it?

General out-of-character discussion among players of Cantr II.

Does the server work the way you think it should?

Not at all! I'll quit this game if the problem is not solved now!

I hate it, but I love the game so much so I'll probably stay anyway.

Well, here we go again.... resources added to project yesterday, working on project.... by the time I could log in, project gone nameless, requires 0 hours, doesn't yield anything... and that's from the first char I looked at that had a project going.
Luckily, I thought of looking at the objects and found the intended yield there, "on the ground", so to say.
Hope there's not too many who were cooking food because they were close to starvation, and who might not think of looking at the objects page.

Working again today.
Still the slowest website I use all week, even on its faster moments, but at least it's now useable.

The lag does not seem to be related to the number of people online. I can get a terrible lag with just 30 people.

The lag seems to be time related. For some reason, there is often a bad lag around 10 minutes before the hour. Initially, I thought it was due to movement processing, which occurs around then (every 3 hours), but it happens befpre other hours too. I wonder if we're sharing a server with someone who does a big lump of processing from time to time?

The lag comes on quite suddenly. One minute everything is going smoothly and the next: molasses. It's not something that gradually gets worse as more people come online. Clearly something is happening then that is blocking/monopolizing/diverting the processing.

You would think, but IG activity always seems lower at the weekends.

I couldn't get in at all over the weekend. I couldn't get any kind of page, not even main. No forums, nothing. Every other site worked well, you name a solution, i've already tried it. Different Explorer, meh... so i'm fed up.

It's about broken routers. Try using a proxy server (no idea how to do that but that's what they said...)

Ah, the irony when I came back to the forum and noticed new posts in this thread. And then when I clicked on the thread...

...unavailable.

There are now a number of actions my characters don't make as a result of the lag. They don't often help people drag things, don't hunt, don't kindly go and fetch a newbie a bone knife from some storeroom, don't tidy up notes and objects on the ground. Things like that, which with no lag, I could do in about five seconds each, take minutes instead of seconds. And that's still as frustrating now as it was last year (and blimey, it really is a whole year this lag's been here).

I suppose if someone ponies up a few thousand dollars for a new server and offers to pay the difference on the monthly service charges, then the game'll be set!

It's much better now, especially compared to a couple of weeks ago. It is down a lot more, but i personally think it being down is better than it lagging as you're not driven insane by trying to do somthing that isn't working very quickly. But maybe that's just me.

The only times i've noticed any extended lag periods over the past 5 days is in entering/exiting buildings, and occasionally hunting. For the most part everything else works fine again. *crosses fingers*

So thanks to those that fixed it.
