Schme, I'm afraid you'll have to define the difference, in a childless society like Cantr.

I know one Constitutional Monarchy in game, with [i don't know how it is in eglish] trinity of powers.

There a Monarch who is a high court and who guard the laws, there is a Prime Minister, who decides about every important action of the town (within the laws) and there is legislative power who create the laws. Smart isn't it?
Classical definition, but it works...

But it isn't true democracy yet, becuase there is no law about voting new powers :) but maybe soon?

Why is that, that you like that the most? I mean, you can't argue about taste, obviously, but why do players of Cantr generally like such benign, friendly leaders? I think they're utterly boring :) ... Why are there so many systems where either a benign dictator or a council just does what is best for the community? Isn't the game much more interesting with political intrigues, bluf, powerplay, etc. etc.?

Oh, I voted 'other', as by far the most common is this kind of Council members elected for life, about four or five of them, each with a specific task ... I've never understand why that system became so over-popular :) ...

That's the reason I like politics on K-isle (Nonirowk) so much, even though it didn't really turn out well for my then-favorite character. It's still more interesting.

When I started the Clans of Olipifirovash Forest, I designed it to be a society of power plays and cooperation. I recruited 4 active people that lived in the governmentless forest and asked them to be the leader of a clan. Each of the four leaders would recruit new spawns and visitors. Each new person woul dchoose the Clan they liked the best.

It was very interesting for a while. The clans all worked together for the good of the forest, but there was always a side agenda to make yor clan the best. There was competition for new recruits. One Clan di dsome things in a nearby region and another clan sent spies there to execute them. After so many years, one clan disbanded, one clan was killed off by the other clan, and the last two finally merged because there was only cooperation and no real competitiveness left.

Now the government is not really a government, there is no laws and no laws are needed for the people that live there. Everyone just does their own thing. The conflict and action occurs from outside forces such as pirates, thieves, requests for help, and the thoughts of expansion.

I personally prefere this type of government because the governements of surrounding towns will never agree totally so it leaves more opertunity for inter-town politics and regional meetings.

I agree with Jos, but I think there are some natural reasons for that not to be happening much.

First, benign dictatorship/council rule is probably best for the health of the town...well, arguably. And it seems that most people place highest.

Second, there's just no natural enemy of it. Foreign enemies are usually no threat, since a benign government isn't likely to make anyone angry enough for a punative strike, and wars of conquest are a little pointless, and usually recognized as such. IRL, ambitious or just generally malcontent citizens would be a threat to such a government. The vast majority of such people are easy to put down, though...especially in cantr, where government loyalty is high, newspawns don't have connections that care about them (no families), and oppressive use of violence is often publicly favored, if not provided by leading citizens before the government even gets a chance to act. Only the malcontents smart enough to get by unnoticed are going to pose any danger...and out of that minute handful, good odds most will just walk away and never come back. Doesn't leave a lot of revolutionary leaders. Especially if your government stands long enough that all the oldsters who predate it (and thus have the power and credibility to oppose it) die off, fade away, or become leaders.

as for the revolutionarie leaders out there, its hard to not only convince people to go to war fro you, but then to arm them with good, efficient weapons, unnoticed. it can be done, but it'd be a challenge
