What level math is cantr at?

Postby creepyguyinblack » Sat May 28, 2005 12:46 am

I am curious because thanks to a trig class I'm taking I thought of a good way to calculate the precise angle needed to go straight from one point to another even if the original trip used several turns and speeds. Would this be any sort of violation for a nautically minded character to use this sort of information?

I shouldn't think so. Someone has to invent the math. Might aswell be someone who would actually have a reason too.

So, I don't think it would be a problem, personally.

Um... I've already used maths to calculate various nautical trips.

So you won't be the first...

Aye, matey, same here. And have had them published, too. Except I used a protractor/ruler/pencil/graphpaper, instead of sine/cosine/tangent/etc/Ti-83+.

I would say it is fine. How do you think math originated on Earth? Someone one day just thought it up.

Yeah trig has alwyas been very good for Cantr sailing. Especially since the angles are already coverted from bearings for you.

I've started preparing simple Calc for when we get the free roam, and am using velocity/time graphs with one character. The only thing is we don't have acceleration yet so the gradients are useless, but the area and my own measure scale will become useful soon.
