Harvesters

Following the change of harvesters in December 2019, we will soon enable the use of gathering slots by drills, quarries and derricks as well. This change affects the number of people who can gather resources at once. The number of gathering slots taken by a harvester are always the same regardless of whether the harvesters are used, and increases by one as more harvesters are added, starting at 1, then 2 (3 total), etc. This increase is by type (for example, drills are a different type than harvesters, so 2 harvesters and 1 drill would be 1+2+1 slots). Drills for different resources are in different categories.

Unused gathering machines can be dismantled and will free up gathering slots once removed.

The change will be activated in about two weeks, to give you the chance to disassemble any unused harvesters and drills that might use up much needed resource slots. This change can end up with towns having more used up resource slots than are available, this is why we're giving you this heads-up.

The following machines will use up resource gathering slots in the following grouping after this is activated:
Harvesters (already implemented): rice, carrot, potato
Quarries: stone, limestone
Iron drills: hematite, taconite, magnetite

And each of the following its own grouping (so not additive with others, only multiples of the same machine):
Bauxite drill
Oil derrick
Coal drill
Copper drill
Nickel drill
Magnesium drill

Clothes

Clothes are gonna start getting the property of being recyclable slowly starting from right now. Since there are lots of clothes, it will take time.

All the current eyewear things have been split into a separated category named "Eyewear". That means you can now use spectacles or any other eyewear while using a mask at the same time. Crocheted silk shawl has been moved to scarves.

We got a new item category: Fake beards!!
And with it we got 3 brand new and shiny fake beards. Cotton, wool, and fur beards.

We moved all the bras to their own category, so people won't have to choose between an undershirt or a bra anymore. Bras are hidden by shirts, undershirts, and jackets, but undershirts are not hidden anymore.
The items moved were the following:

-coconut bra
-cotton bra
-crochet cotton bikini top
-fur bikini top
-hide bikini top
-leather bikini top
-silk brassiere
-silk lace bra

Trains are now much faster

Saddlebags are no longer crafted on the horse directly. You now craft the item "unmounted saddlebags" with the same raws and in the same time. With that item you can later mount the saddlebags in just 1 hour on the horse. You can later unmount them in the same time anytime and get the unmounted saddlebags back. The unmounted version can't store items, tho.

Same happens with reins. Instead of crafting them on the horse you just craft the bridles. Then you mount the reins on the horse in 1 hour using the bridles.

The tool "wood saw" has now been made obsolete. It was only used for making the cello, that now uses the normal saw.
Also:
Book crafting times will be adjusted. Fancy books will now take longer to make, while the more basic books will be faster.

We have four brand new musical instruments! The upright piano and grand piano are rather expensive, and are static instruments not unlike furniture. The keyboard and keytar are portable like normal instruments, and feature electronics for amplification. Enjoy!

Bone tools will decay faster, will be faster to make, and won't be repairable.


Cover your ears! It is now possible to play certain instruments loudly. This will make them be heard from a distance! All instruments that have the "loudspeaker" button will have this ability, being audible over a distance depending on the instruments.
Restraints in the code mean that at the moment it's not possible to see any "distant" events that happen within 1 pixel distance of your character, ProgD is working on a solution for this. This includes fireworks and the like, as well.

Balls can now be kicked from the ground, like they could be already from the character's inventory.

Wheelchairs have been added! Your character now got wheels. Go and race with your friends by the halls of your town with them.
Wheelchairs will be "worn" like clothing for ease of use.

We now have a new type of balloon! Besides the well known water balloon, we have introduced the party balloon. Both are now made from the new semi-finished item "balloon". Party balloons can be popped for comedic effect.

Two new room types have been added: the Brick Alcove and the Wood Alcove can now be found in the build menu. They both hold 4 people, and a maximum of 600.000 grams.


The names of the following buildings has been adjusted to show their construction material:
"building" > "stone building"
"hall" > "stone hall"
"shack" > "wood shack"
"cottage" > "wood cottage"


The name of the resource "shell" (gathered from several insects) has been changed to "chitin" to avoid confusion with tortoiseshell and the to-be-implemented resource seashells. Most items used the name "chitin" already, only the "four-sided shell die" has been adjusted to "four-sided chitin die".


The resting value of the "four poster bed with silk curtains" has now been increased to be the same as the normal cotton bed.


We have another new music-related item! The music box can now be found in the build menu. It works just like other instruments, but shows a somewhat different event when played. Enjoy!


The cooking projects for the following cakes have now been fixed to be manual, not automatic. Besides that, we have also added charcoal-versions of the projects for the coal oven:

we've decided not to go ahead with the harvester resource slots change quite yet, but we will keep working on limiting resource gathering otherwise and in more interesting ways

Ceviche is now made using the wooden bowl, instead of the makisu. The wooden bowl will act like a machine for this case.


Fish cakes for all tastes. Now you can make with every type of fish. Enjoy!


Some small oversights around the trains implementation have now been fixed: vehicle radios can now be built in trains, railway stations are not infinitely capacious anymore, and railway stations can now be locked, as well.
