SoC, be sure to check out the information in the "description and background" link, it'll make your first characters much easier to play once you get a good idea of what the game's about. :)

Actually, I'm amazed you came across the forum before reading that, usually this place takes some guesswork and/or luck to find, and most don't even know it exist until they've played awhile...

Does it get tricky after a while? Remembering which character knows this and which character knows that?

I've found it helps to keep diaries for my characters, or at least the ones that travel. They make things a whole lot simpler and are invaluable in keeping track of things like travel times, resources and there uses, and your impressions of the people you meet. And it's just nice to think that even if they die they'll leave a record behind; if I'm ever in danger I intend to make the note uneditable. (though I bet some people would be surprised at what a couple of them say... )

It's not that hard. You will find that as you play your characters and those they encounter become like real people, but just somewhat respect the capital rule I mean it doesn't take a genious out what an oven is used for, but your charcter shouldn't know the quickest route between Plaeukur and Krif unless you have a map showing you the way.

I've had chars in the KDS region for over 40 game years and I still don't know where the hell Plaekur is.

That information can be found on some common map distributions...

Seriously?
There's probably no more than 15 or 20 people in the whole Plaekur region.

Plaekur forest rocks, the only problem is we do not advertize it too much... and it's a bit tricky getting in there. But anyway, it's a great place for a holiday. Oh wait, I should be doing this in game..

None of my characters has ever had a compelling reason to go to Plaekur, and therefore no reason to try to figure out where it is. Many of them have HEARD of it. I have a char that's been considering visiting, thanks in part to the travel guide. Now that he's got some free time on his hands, it could be a good time to do so.
