Change in character

Postby colonel » Tue Oct 12, 2004 6:13 am

It is funny, I have seen many times in here people say that events make characters what they are. Well that has just happened for one of my characters and I must say I am shocked. I mean this was the one I was really trying to make out to be the sweetheart, lovable to everyone who saw her, but now well, she knows not to trust anyone and well she is a very pissed off girl right now. LOL. I just want to see how many people have come across something like this.

I mean, we all have plans for our characters when we first create them, we have ideas of what they will be like and how they will act, but are you surprised at what happens and how they turn out in the end?

I have to say that I am very surprised with this one and can't wait to see what happens now.

Hapened to me too- I started by making my plans for my characters, what they will do, how they will act, before they spawned. Now, I keep that at a lower level, it's sometimes more interesting when your character gets put into a situation you weren't expecting, sometimes completely destroying your plans for them... Let what happens to them make them who they are...
Whoever you vote for.

I totally rely on the environment and happenings to develope my char, I plan things they will do (at best a year or two in advance depending on how major it is), but I never plan their perssonality, only time I ever did it was with Lunatic Larry and that was to spoof religon.

Yeah, I don't really put to much planning into my characters now, I just go with what happens to them to get it all started now. Hey the characters I did put a lot of work into before they were spawned are now dead. LOL.

Some of my chars. I have plans for and others they just went with the flow. Some of them found better goals while others are still searching for what they want to do in life.

Yes, the environment has quite some effect on my characters althouth I usually decide a personality for them when I create them.

For example: One of my characters who was a careless ladies-man have now been turned around completly since he met the love of his life. His concern about her safety has killed his love for danger and adventures...and when he accidently killed a thief he was hunting it also had a huge impact on him.

I had one spawn in the forests of Plaekur.. I had him planned to run some sort of business, or something like that.
Instead, being around the TDA turned him into a killer. Not that many people have ever lived to witness him kill anyone, though.

Well once again this character has changed because of things around her and I must say that I never thought I would ever see what she is seeing in my entire life in a game or in real life. WOW! I just want to also add that I never, and I mean never want to know who plays these characters. LOL!

My 4 most changed personalities are:

1) Started off a peaceful alchemist and now is working with a blood thirsty mercenary hell bent on taking over the town they're in.

2) Started off a simple forester, now one of the last survivors of a dying clan covertly avoiding his hunters.

3) Started as a barbarian, now a high ranking member of a well established order.

4) Started out as a loyal subject who has recently returned to find the empire he left no longer remains after the 3 years he was away. I'm not sure how he's going to turn out or what he's going to do yet. I'm sure that will be decided when he finds the reason.

:D It's all good fun!
