Animal Behavior

Postby The Industriallist » Thu Aug 26, 2004 8:29 pm

Has anyone else noticed an incredible jump in animal attacks?

I'm not complaining (actually, I like the additional danger), but it seems as if someone changed the animal programming...

I only saw it once this time, 5 attacks in a row

I have a character that lives in a region by himself and the animal population is very high. There are 11 different species. Currently there are 67 Moose, 34 Deer, 37, horses, and 36 sheep. The other animals are around the 10's. I have experienced an increase in attack rate, but I like it. There is nothing else to do except play with the animals.

I'm pretty sure that an animal attacking increases the likelihood of other animals attacking. Bowser's animals seem to attack in pairs, for the most part, and a character of mine who hadn't been attacked in about a Cantr year was suddenly hit by a lion and killed by a wolf.
I don't think more animal violence is beneficial. It just makes life more hazardous for new characters, or for characters who spawn far away from wood. I haven't seen any animals that can do damage through an iron shield, and only lions that can do damage through a wooden shield. Now, if animals could be at least a nuisance to well-equipped characters, that would be different, but right now they just rough up newspawns.

Ok, if you read bowsers post you would have seen that a wild boar hit though his iron shield and other animals can too.

Second, Wooo for Warcraft Three.

Yeah, occasionally a shield will just be plain uneffective. That sucks really bad too.

My character Tony was brought down to 5 percent by the places with tens of wild boars and cheetahs and wolve and mooses. By the way, I think in brinks forest area there was up to 60 mooses at one time... Everyone of those animals got through my wood shield..... Now I am staggering along, and I have ran out of food, but luckily, being attacked was 12 days ago.... so my health kinda came back up a little, and can last a few days, like 5...

The new animal behavior kinda sucks if you just spawn and almost get killed the next day. dont get me wrong though, i do like it. animals attack more when there are less people around. but in a big town they attack less. kinda a cool way to mix it up. but for those who have characters who dont have anything but potatoes and sand to dig up it really sucks, more fun in some ways..
