Descriptions now showing weapons and shields?

Postby Rustoleum » Thu Aug 19, 2004 2:28 am

Are the programmers actively trying to start Cantr-wide chaos?

In my opinion, this new wrinkle is going to cause an explosion in the number of saber-wielding, iron shielded punks slaughtering newspawns, since now they will know who is armed and protected, and who isn't. :(

That doesn't belong in general support at all.

As a rule, 'punks' who slaughter newspawns hit everyone without any discrimination, and everyone hits them. I don't think town killers will be pardoned because they didn't hit anyone with a shield.

Not to say it won't be useful to some criminals...

I'm just curious here... On some characters when I click descriptions it will say "he/she wears nothing worth mentioning"
But on others, there is no description at all.

Might be because they are in a different building than you, or that they are outside when you are in a building. If not, well then there's a buggy thingy I haven't yet noticed.

I like that you can see how people are armed...but I would like to see a way for people to hide their weapons, at least if they are small.

I don't think you can see small weapons anyway...

You can't see wooden shields? I would have thought you could.. But like Anthony said its work in progress... So best not say this should that shouldn't just yet!

I can see wooden shields.. All shields are visible, I think. One guy had four shields, it looked kinda funny.

It doesn't display them on some people I know have them? May just be an integration bug?

Yeah I noticed this too... sometimes you see them, sometimes you don't. Might also be a "chance" element so that you're not sure that someone MIGHT have a sabre even if it doesn't display...

Aye, TJ found something similiar and reported it, however, Jos can't find the problem. He doesn't know why some people show their items, and some don't. When the problem is solved, it will be fixed.

As well, remember the Capital Rule. You can't tell what items can and can not be seen, it's something that needs to be discovered in game. However, for purposes of this particular "items not showing" bug, things might be said, but remember that your character doesn't know, but only you.

Also, regarding the description where you can see their clothing, and when it's blank, this is resolved. When you see their description, they're on your location. However, when they leave, you either see the direction their going, or nothing at all (In a building or vehicle). However, you'd still see what items they had. As stated, this is now fixed. When they're gone, you will no longer see their items (But you will still see what direction they're going, or blank.)

Some iron shields are visible, but one of my characters has an invisible shield. Her weapons are still visible, though.
