Does it sound like I'm too attached to my characters if I'm already worrying about them dying of old age?

character age
I apologize if this is question that everyone already knows......but I did a search and couldn't find a definitive answer. How old can characters get and do they eventually die of old age? If they do die of old age, then what age is that?

i've seen some of the 60's charries, but i haven't met any of them personally IC. as for myself, i've got 4 that just recently turned 40, and i'm hoping none of them die any time soon, if this "old age" system is implemented. I'm not that worried yet, but the thought still crosses my mind every once in a while.

If you are not attached to your characters, you aren't having the full amount of fun. Playing robot killing machines or worker drones with no lives is not the fun. The fun is injecting a piece of your own personality. Which piece is up to you. If you are like me, there are many pieces, not generally connected, with a few spares floating around.
Feeling real emotions when something happens to a character is a signal that you are playing the game the way it is intended. If you didn't care what happened, you'd be missing out. I see that as the difference between a game that is played to an end (to win) and Cantr.

The only thing Dena needs to do to be more like me is invent Cantr gremlins and I wont do that. nope nope.
Yahsmina is the twisted side, really she is. there is a bit of me hidiong in her someplace. quivering with fear.

I hope people won't drop dead on a set date...like everybody dying on the 70th birthday.
It should be a random value from the age of 65 or something, that you have a small chance of dying every time your age gets higher...that would have some people dying early and others being able to grow very old.

Well, you can even question if Cantrians are human...so the age limit can be set pretty much at any level. But personally I wouldn't want 100+ characters. Dying of old age should be a part of a society simulator. Monarchs and other leaders who rule for life should eventuelly need to be replaced...
