There are traditional arrangements that some players might recognize, especially in the USA. I had 'written' a song using Beach Boys Music, and have a character who loves to sing things to traditional southern blues progressions when he is working. Those songs can go on and on and include recent events of the town or the people or just the tedium of work itself. Traditional rock and roll riffs like the Chuck Berry progressions can lead to some fun compositions. A Rap song (especially the slower beats imo) is just ripe for free-form improvisation of lyrics.
Not all songs make sense, in fact, many to most don't. Not all poems rhyme. Here in a game world where we are making up such a large percentage of our character(s), it doesn't seem such an elongated stretch to create words to a song. We are creating all of the actions and words spoken by our characters (though not always the way they die), so just go with it. Not all characters have to write good songs and poetry, wouldn't it be more realistic if we had more than a few duds?

lol Hayu... said what everybody was thinking, I bet, and it was short enough to be a cultural reference instead of a blatant ripoff. Makes me think of Julien finding ways to quote Cantr comic in the game, even though that's not related to music.
