How do you get anywhere in this game?

There are empty or near-empty locations too, even on the old islands, but they're usually empty because they don't have any good resources.

Not really true... The only location on V* island with hematite was almost empty when I was there last time. Only three sleepers (more than 2 years of sleeping) and a newspawn which left the place soon after my character left it...

I mainly meant on islands like Cantr and Treefeather. In there if you find an empty location, it's probably a mountain or a desert or a place that does have food but nothing to trade. While on islands like Omeo, there might be locations with about a dozen different resources but no people.

I didnt know there was such a place, not one resource? I wish I knew where this was. I have a mountain character and it is a constant battle to feed myself and the few newspawns that hang. Very few goals have been reached in the 30+ years I have been there. But it adds to the whole Cantr experience.

One of my lone wanderers who has not seen a person in the 15 years since he left his spawn location found a few areas next to each other with no resources and the location type was named "Tundra"

I suppose I'll just have to take your word for that...though personally I've never understood why people always try to make towns in those kinds of places. It's one thing to struggle with a lack of food or whatever if it's for a reason, like a valuable resource or a strategic location or whatever, but sticking it out in somewhere completely useless and expecting other people to do the same just because seems kind of pointless to me.
