Yeah I agree after reading things, although I have seen some of the more active times, with an old login with player number 554 I'm sure I outdate some of you n00bs 8) Anyway, I was just thinking baout the poor people whow anted to make a musical instument and then play away and also to encourage some of the people who don't do anything unless it benefits them in some way.

Now we had another thread on added real music to a game.

But it may be nice to have an object produce an event like knocking.

888-8 You see a man in his twenties play a flute.

And then the singing.

That would be a great idea, id love to be able to have my char sit around the fire pit playing on his guitar. Having the people around him singing. very good idea for a forest that im in right now, think they would all enjoy that.

Is that a promise we'll have working flutes by day 888, hour 8?

Musical "knocking" would seem a sensible way to do it.

889-1: You see a man in his thirties play a guitar.

889-1: A man in his twenties says: "*sings* Cum by ya, my lord...."

Oh dear. Maybe we leave out the music?

The problem is, I think, is that there isn't enough RPing. A lot of people are always working, and silent and they won't do anything else, unless they benefit from it. So I think that when music is implented, a lot of people won't make an instrument. There will be some, though, who will have lots of fun with it.

But just a question to all of you: would you people go all the way to some forest, get wood for a guitar, and after that go somewhere else, gather hematite, crush it, etc, etc, until you have iron, and gather all the other resources, only to make this guitar, from which you can't profit?

Ok, you could buy all the stuff (if there's someone to buy from ;)), but it won't be costless, so I guess a lot of people simply don't want to make stuff which they can't profit from, since then it would be useless to have.

I think that musical instruments would be played with if implemented. They would be for fun, and as a symbol of power, about the same as what clothing is now. Clothing is useless as something needed, but is a powerful status symbol.

@XBL.... I hope few ppl would build or buy an instrument. How would you like the events page full of instruments kicking in and singing?

Agreead with Ephi. It's a symbol. To have something useless meant you have time and resources to build it.
Life is fun. Play naked with Psycho-Pixie.

It also indicates what kind of person you are.
A guitar would be complicated, but there are simpler instruments. How about, say, a flute? Some wood (or bone), a knife and a few days.

And yes, there is a music thread somewhere. I really like the idea, as it would add a layer of interactivity to Cantr.
