This thread's objective is to create a broad set of standards for the forums.
1. Are there be any circumstances under which a person should be banned from a forum?
2. What should the guidelines be for when a post may be edited?
Possible reasons: Four-Day Rule (FDR), offensive speech, bad spelling/grammar, incorrect information.
3. I don't suppose there is any way to merge phpBB threads, is there? Assuming there isn't, is there any way that threads could be merged? For example, posts could be copied and pasted and the source thread could be locked/deleted. How should this be done and when?
4. Under what circumstances should a thread be locked or deleted?
5. Under what circumstances should a thread be moved from one forum to another?
6. There are currently several groups with moderator power on many of the forums. What should their jurisdictions be? For example, I think FDR breach-related issues should be handled by the Players Department and no one else.
7. Make a draft of a forum use guideline, to be posted as an announcement on each forum. It may be a good idea to make a different one for each forum.

1. Are there be any circumstances under which a person should be banned from a forum?
When the subject is annoying in the method of spam or a continued deployment of offensive verbal abilities as in direct repeated profanity toward a certain forum goer.
2. What should the guidelines be for when a post may be edited?
Possible reasons: Four-Day Rule (FDR), offensive speech, bad spelling/grammar, incorrect information.
Limited to one liner insults, and the above mentioned FDR, Offensive speech but I would not think spelling *coughs* nor lies should be edited. Unless of course it incriminates someone wrongly *coughs* Trage Sig*coughs* since well I don't mind discussing titanium sabres
3. I don't suppose there is any way to merge phpBB threads, is there? Assuming there isn't, is there any way that threads could be merged? For example, posts could be copied and pasted and the source thread could be locked/deleted. How should this be done and when?
Ummm, right.
4. Under what circumstances should a thread be locked or deleted?
General Support and Capitol Rule Area where people tend to go on and on and on about the same shit over and over and over whilst a case is already "investigated."
5. Under what circumstances should a thread be moved from one forum to another?
When its irrelevant to that area.
6. There are currently several groups with moderator power on many of the forums. What should their jurisdictions be? For example, I think FDR breach-related issues should be handled by the Players Department and no one else.
Bah, all the staff seem to have mod power so yeah as you said Breach>Players, Support>Programming, Suggestions>Resources, Announcement>GAC.
7. Make a draft of a forum use guideline, to be posted as an announcement on each forum. It may be a good idea to make a different one for each forum.

Re: The Vox Populi Forum Management Thread
Well actually there are some rules and that is what has kept it fine.
This thread's objective is to create a broad set of standards for the forums.
1. Are there be any circumstances under which a person should be banned from a forum?
There are reasons to do this but they are so exterme that I don't know anyone who has not vouletarily ceased what they are doing.
2. What should the guidelines be for when a post may be edited?
Possible reasons: Four-Day Rule (FDR), offensive speech, bad spelling/grammar, incorrect information.
I've only ever edited another's post once and it was due to a vital bug being revealed.
For all other things I usally let the user know that there post should be edited by them themselves.
3. I don't suppose there is any way to merge phpBB threads, is there? Assuming there isn't, is there any way that threads could be merged? For example, posts could be copied and pasted and the source thread could be locked/deleted. How should this be done and when?
Manual only. And if there ever became a reason too then the person who choose to go through the effort could determine what looked best. I would do a seris of quotes.
4. Under what circumstances should a thread be locked or deleted?
General Support get locked after the issue is resloved. I wait at least a few days and it is somethimes months before I do this. If it is a bug I move it to the bug list and lock it.
I typically delete only the user response to my request for deletion.
5. Under what circumstances should a thread be moved from one forum to another?
Many times the topic will be split of moved from general support over to general discussion or suggestions if people start a converstation in it.
As far as sorting out sugesstions from general dicussion, constant user feedback seem to do fine.
6. There are currently several groups with moderator power on many of the forums. What should their jurisdictions be? For example, I think FDR breach-related issues should be handled by the Players Department and no one else.
Disagree. If they are not on we (porgramming) should be able to move it to the staff forum of delete it altoghter.
Programming should have access to annocements. For gamewide problems general support has been used for this as either a response to an issue or notification of an issue.
7. Make a draft of a forum use guideline, to be posted as an announcement on each forum. It may be a good idea to make a different one for each forum.
