Do you think we give our characters memory spans greater than they should be capable of?

I personally believe that natural death needs to be implemented in order to make the game more fair. Once it is implemented, I don't believe a limit on memory span should exist. But as long as characters are allowed to live as long as they want, than I believe a limit should be put on memory span.

Age limit? No. I don't think so too. But heart attacks can happen without ending you account, right?

Heart attacks occur when someone unsubscribes, or when their account idles out. They also occur when the Players Department removes a character.

Yeah but a person can ask PD to remove a character. I've done that in the distant past and even though you were asked for a reason and "are you absolutely sure about this?" and "couldn't you just starve them to death?" if you are absolutely sure and offer a good reason then it should work.

Oh, it's funny how people tend to call it a heart attack even though the description on dead characters says "The cause of death seems to be a heart attack or similar." At least some of my characters tend to call it "internal reasons" since characters just drop dead instead of for example clutching their chest or arm. (BTW I appreciate it when I see that arm thing done in game because it means that people know something about heart attacks. My dad has a heart condition irl so I've read a lot about it.)

So basically I was right, right now, cantrians can live forever. I would recommend capping the age at 200, and then killing the player from a heart attack. I really think something like that needs to be done. Because there isn't enough change in cantr.

It doesn't feel fair... I'd rather plead to the players to rp signs of aging, since it has been stated that Cantrians are humans, not elves or something. And people shouldn't be too iffy about killing old people, tragedies keep the world in motion. Edit: Just give them a chance to say their last words.

As you truly said: tragedy keeps the world in motion. So we ought not to be iffy about the elderly dying of natural causes.
Of all the suspensions of disbelief required in Cantr, I think the very worst of them is the possible immortality of Cantrians.

But the fact is Cantrians do get stronger and more skilled as they age. It's one of many unique things about our world, like carrying 15 kilos of tomatos riding a bicycle naked. I personally find it annoying when people rp aging with completely ooc symptoms of senility or weakness.
If I spend rl years developing and playing chars only to see them die of old age artificially, it's not going to make me want to start over again with some newspawns. In a game you need some reward for sticking with it.

But games get boring once you've achieved everything. Dying in Cantr is kinda like ascension in KoL, except that it's permanent hardcore and the skills you perm are OOC.

I don't see why we should need an age limit. To reach an age of 200 you would have to play a character for ten years, without getting him killed someway or other and without RL getting in the way. I see no reason for punishing people who managed to survive for such a long time. Besides, most characters won't live long enough to get "very old" anyway.

It's funny how Cantr is a permanent death game, yet life is pretty much eternal unless you fall asleep in dangerous locations or do something ungood. So people usually die of boredom in the end, or keep on living past 100, and life is stable because no one is forced to take responsibility because the old folks have always handled things good enough. In most cases after a good leader there will be at least one incompetent leader and total chaos, maybe the town finally gets back on it's feet... most likely after getting some stuff stolen and all the locks changed. I'd like to know if there's been a single power shift that would've gone without problems. Well... maybe Crag Rock, seeing that the Stone Knights are still doing apparently well even though it's been years since his death.

My cantr memory is much better for some things and much worse for other things. IRL I don't remember faces or names very well, but seeing them written really helps so I remember people.
I don't remember all the places some of my chars have been to, especially those that get around a lot.
I do know exactly what I own and such, as I keep offline notes on a per character basis (If it didn't waste so many minutes I would do it in game, but that doesn't work, imo).
I write down active deals I have with people as well. But yes, I sometimes search my logs to know where I've been or who I've seen if someone asks me (only happened a few times so far).
