I realised some time ago that there are far more accepted suggestions than the development team have time to implement. They accept them a lot quicker than they implement them. Therefore, unless they take on more help, 'accepted' only means 'accepted in principle'. It's not actually an agreement that it will be implemented, only that it would be good enough to be implemented if anyone had enough time. :(

I find it generally fruitless to suggest anything in the forum, as even if it's accepted, there's next to no chance of it being done unless it's really amazing and captures the imagination of the people devloping it. And, rightly IMO, fixing bugs and bad user-interface areas is often higher on their list than new features like these pets.

Not blaming development/coding people as they can't help how much time they have compared to how many good suggestions are suggested. And there's a limit to how much help they can get - especially given the need for strict applications to join the staff.

So if you're looking for a quick turnaround from accepted to implemented, you're looking in the wrong place ;)

Well Psymann, the way it works is:

1. Player suggests object.
2. RD Moderator accepts object.
3. The other Players all discuss the object and give their opinions.
4. Object is moved to Accepted suggestions along with tons of other objects.
5. RD member picks a object from the list that he wants to work on, or sometimes he is assigned to one by the Moderator.
6. RD Member starts a topic in the RD Thread about this item and suggests his ideas on the build requirements and details.
7. The other RD Members all discuss the object and give their opinions(this is the longest process here).
8. The RD Moderator reviews everyones input and gives the order for what the details will be.
9. The RD Member then punches it into the database and stores it under awaiting approval in the database area(there are many objects sitting there).
10. Finally the RD Moderator does one last overview and makes sure the details are punched in right before moving it into the implemented category where it becomes available in the game.

What I am saying by all of this, is that when players see something get accepted on the forums, that is only the 2nd out of 10 long steps. That is why some people may think that these things aren't being worked on, but the fact is, there is just so many steps in the process, that it takes a while. Just be patient people, if it got accepted it will be implemented eventually. If you have a problem with how long it is taking, then join the RD and do it yourself.

Elros is right, and I'd like to add that some Suggestions are far easier to implement than others. If you have strong feelings about seeing your Suggestions implemented sooner, try to formulate them so they rely only on existing game mechanics. Some of the best Suggestions are not implementable without programming changes from the already over-burdened ProgD, who rightly have other priorities.

Yes I agree with Sanchez as well, the RD members seem to like to grab objects out of the accepted suggestions that can be added right into the database without any programming, before they will go for a programming-needed object. Even if it was suggested afterwards. It is not done in oder of acception, so the easier your suggestion is to implement, the faster it will probably be done.

Not really having a clue about programming, but i should think one of the problems with the domesticating of animals is that last time changes were made with the animal thingies, the immense load of lag was discovered.

If that was an answer to what I said before you, let me clarify, I'm not talking about every department, just the ProgD. And I'm not acusing anyone of being lazy or anything, I'm just saying it's hard to enter the ProgD, and that is true...

RD's got access to the ProgD forums and in my opinion it looks pretty bad. I understand that they're using their mailing list more than the forums but... I forgot how I was supposed to finish this sentence. Anyway they locked Skulty's topic when he had been repeatedly been asking if he could help out in some way.

Oh, but they had reasons to do it, I had been told to talk only in the mailing list, but since answers were taking too long there I posted again in the forum, so Chris locked it, making sure I would start following the rules. :D
The problem is just that they are understaffed and overloaded with work, so that most of the time, posting in the mailing list is a monologue... I'm worried about the future of the ProgD, if they don't find some time to get new staff soon, Cantr development will keep getting slower and slower... :?
