BlackCanyon's proposal would be just about the best simple way to make currency work, if it weren't so utterly unrealistic. But I'm flexible on that; I'm for it because I'll finally get to see (well, hear about) how currency works in Cantr.

My thoughts: For any form of currency, under the current system you can get either stacking (if implemented as a resource, such as "iron coins" or naming (if implemented as named objects, as coins currently are), but not both.

If we go with BlackCanyon's totally huge compression ratio, named coins would be manageable, and might lead to some interesting uses.

I'm still with other people - until iron becomes common enough to actually be USED as currency, we're not going to have a real currency running around.

Everybody trusts the value of iron. :)

We do have one, unless the Qui has folded up and died without me hearing about it. It isn't backed by much of anything besides a series of awkward laws, but it gets use.

I also think that the KDS region, at least, could make very good use of currency. Partly because when everyone is cooperating, they have some of the best productive potential anywhere. After Alenz Hills, anyway.
