The statistics in the game

Postby SekoETC » Tue Oct 04, 2005 11:39 am

Ok I've been wondering for a long while what does that stuff mean. It's accessible in the bottom of the player page. Ok it says time left but how come can usually also the lower limit and lower quartile have 200 left? Does it mean perhaps that 3/4 players don't check ther characters each day? And how can upper limit be lower than lower limit? ...Confusing.

STATISTICAL OVERVIEW CANTR
INFO ON Time Left
turn Lower_Limit Lower_Quartile Median Upper_Quartile Upper_Limit
840 200 200 200 199
...
1308

I don't understand anything from those stats :? There almost always the same numbers  And by the way. I think that those stats should be AFTER language groups stats or just SPLITTED to two links. Few arguments for that:

- I doing language groups stats check very often.
- I don't get any point of those timing stats (and I bet that many players too)
- 2'nd page loads very fast, and 1'st loads very slow, so if someone want to check only 2'nd one he must wait very long.

That's a bit too strongly stated ;) ... I teach statistics, and I wrote that page :) ... I just don't know why the top limit can be lower than the bottom limit, although I have one suspicion what might be the reason (I probably used the formal definition of boxplots to avoid outliers affecting the stats too much, but this should have such an effect, still).

And I totally agree with the suggestion of swapping them, or removing the timelimit ones. I was surprised myself when I recently noticed they were in this order :)
