I'm still hoping they'll change it, Wietse, to something less extreme, like double the old rate; but if they also cut down on the resources required, and cut down on the time to crush hematite that might not affect the new prices at all (so long as they don't go too far)

One sad little problem with this change; I've had to shunt quite a few skilled ironworkers over to crushing hematite instead, within a couple of days of them dicovering their newly-found skills. It was pretty cruel to introduce iron smelting skills at precisely that juncture methinks. Like I said the ratio of crushers to smelters is now, of necessity, seven times what it used to be, which is pretty awful, but not quite as bad as making everybody redundant (which is what it will come to, if they increase the rate of hematite crushing, propportionally) But wait...what the Prog, Dept wants is more iron produced, right? They'll only get that if we increase our resource gathering rates- or else LOWER THE QUANTITIES OF RESOURCES REQUIRED. Then, not only do they get more iron in-game they can ralso reduce this ridiculous smeting rateand keepall the ironworkers happily beavering away just like before, only producing twice as much. What the heck is wrong with that?

I still haven't got around to revising my prices, because I haven't figured out how to double my trade in basic resources yet. Until I do, I'll just be paying higher wages etcetera with the same amount of iron, and there wonb't be any spare for necessary developments like building more vehicles. In short, the industry will get stuck.I've started building an extra tandem , for what that's worth, but it isn't easy finding somebody suitable to ride it. What I really need is bigger better vehicles which can get a lot more at one go, of course, but first...I need a lot more iron and stuff*groans*

Well, anyway, I'nm seriously attempting to double production (which is pretty much necessary being as prices should be halved, or therabouts)..but that's a costly endeavour in itself, It's gonna take a few years to break even, even supposing it works out. (much depends on the mining towns doing their bit, too. Like I said before. you can't trade for what isn't there; and unless more people are willing to gather resources, it' not going to work. We'll just be running around making futile attempts at trading, and adding on extra costs as we go)
