Best type of government in Cantr in your experience.

What do you think is the best Government type for Cantr?

A monarchy seems the best option, as most newspawns go along with the idea of having a king or queen, and it makes the town or region seem so much more refined :P

but what do YOU think?

A 'Caretaking' type government, which really leaves you free to do what you want, and plays some part in keeping the town sterile and organized...I like that the best. It could be either patriarchial or matriarchial as well, to add a twist. And of course, you can easily transition into a tribe/family/clan if your neighbors are close enough friends.

Several of my characters are into the whole government thing. I think that in theory, the best government would be a non-invasive one that merely organizes the maitenence of law, and sets up many different organizations within the town that newspawns can join and identify with. Private industries are a pain because it's a bunch of people in a town that lock themselves behind a door and don't really 'live' with the towns citizens. If an entire town is run like one giant industry, I think you'd get a happy, cohesive, and efficient populous.

So that's what I'm trying for.

So, you're a genuine full-scale communist?

I've some fondness for the anti-governments. They stay out of the way mostly. Though it bothers me when they fail by having the 'old boys network' hold enough power that they could call themselves a government if they wanted (Quillanoi Forest...)

Slightly off topic, I've just been thinking (and one of my characters too, but nothing's likely to come of that) that a law that anyone demanding respect be immediately killed would be nice.

I'd be fond of a direct democracy (maybe with a very weak executive). Or of a republic/monarchy that was liberal in the home town but had repressive colonies.

The thing i really hate are the political hotspots of the world of Cantr... its only just made me realise how mindbendingly annoying politicians can be (Quillanoi)...

I love having places mix it up though. SO for that manner I like the existence of Empires (Old Lad) as well.

  Explain! Better still, explain to Comrade Fran in character. Speak your mind! She does try so very hard you know, and would a place that's two longish hops away from food in all directions have survived with that size population otherwise?

*grumble grumble*
