New uses for points
Since it's...pointless...to use points for minutes, I wanted to toss around some ideas for their use. Some I've thought of:
1) Use for discounts on Cantr merchandise (if we ever have enough interest to produce any).
2) Legalized fishing. Want to spawn in a specific place? Type in the name, and then spend points. The more you spend, the higher the odds you'll spawn there. Might have a side effect of increasing CRBs, but there are ways to monitor that.
3) More character slots, although only if the current cap of 15 is lowered (people with 15 would still keep their slots, it would be for new people or people with less than the new max).

I like the second. Although how would you know the name of a place? A lot of names are changed and stuff.

Is the current system going to stay? As far as I know getting rid ot the time limit is only an experiment so far. Or do you know more than me?
Point one an interesting idea. Maybe we should ask around who'd be interested in that kind of stuff.
I don't like option two very much, but option three would be great. I don't know why we would have to limit the character maximum though. I've got almost 15 chars and would certainly like another slot. (At least at the moment.) And having 16 or 17 chars instead of 15 wouldn't make much of a difference balance-wise.

Jos said somewhere that he couldn't think of any reasons not to keep it like this.

I like number 3. Maybe people could get 8 character slots naturally and more with credits. Also the price could increase with each slot.
If we ever got around to having customizable appearance, that would be something to spend credits on. People could select hair, eye and skin color for their character or at least limit what it should not be, while people who wouldn't use credits would get a random appearance.
Number 2 would also be interesting, but risky. If the islands would be divided into regions and it would show on which regions you already have characters, you could rule out those places. But with the no OOC maps thing it might be difficult.

Perhaps it'd be better to have uses for credits created from things we already have in the game/system. Let's be honest, that's not getting implemented any time soon.

Hmm, seems I had to sample myself to see it, then activate it. Except, I see the poll three times. Not sure what's up with that. Well, we'll get an answer in two weeks, maybe x3.

Yes, I have always thought that there needed to be more uses for points... It is not easy to come up with ideas though because obviously it can't interfere with the ingame aspects such as trading points for weapons or iron, so it has to be for something OOC.
I think you did a good job coming up with suggestions, and even though option 2 would probably never work, I like the idea! Even being able to select which island you spawn on would be nice...
I think the most realistic options are 1 and 3 however. I believe 1 could easily be implmented, but I am not sure of they would want to give discounts on merchandise simply to get more votes... It would have to be a big exchange rate such as 100 points for $1 off... lol

Every action has a consequence.
