Re: Coloring
Why don't you use the character description? That's what I do. What's more, that way I can describe every colour on the item from the stitching to the trim to the lettering on the back. I'd rather that than a drop down list of colours to pick when I make clothing.

Oh, that is true I suppose. I hadn't thought of that. It would still be a handy little interface to have, even though it's not detailed.

Re: Coloring
I think this was suggested before, but could each item of clothing be given an additional custom description if the player who makes it chooses to give it one? I know you could just do it in the character's custom description, but this way, if a character gives away a piece of clothing, it would still look the same.

Re: Coloring
I guess the custom description could be done. I figured this way would simply be easier since the staff is so undermanned. Just adding another drop down list, a few a little things, and bam bam done.

Re: Coloring
I would much more prefer an actual colouring process!
The cloth has a natural colour and you need a pot and a special resource to colour it the way you like...
onions for yellow
grass for green
err.... blueberries for blue?
Yeah. Wouldn't be easy and simple.
(I guess that's the opposite of your idea... ) But I think as long as it's not like this the description will do.

I would hate to have a yellow-dyed shirt if that were the dying material.
And blueberry and blackberry juices are purple, not blue.

From 2004:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2875
Took me a 3 second forum search.
It's still there right at the top of this forum
Tips on searching for previous suggestions
I wrote that back in 2005. It still holds.
*Sigh*, I remember trawling these forums for duplicate suggestions. A simple search for dye or color comes up with at least 3 locked duplicate threads on this...
Edit: Also, Hi Sunni!

I rather like this idea and could see a lot of uses for it.
