TBG is a sci-fi sim that I played before Cantr. It's text and turn based and semi-open ended (games run 4-5 years, or longer if still interesting). Turns run 3x per week, so very slow paced. It's quite a lot of fun and can get very political if you like power-brokering. The game went defunct but has risen from the ashes, and will be starting anew in 2014, with a public alpha test starting september 16th and running for 81 turns.

Re: To Boldy Go
How many people call themselves Kirk or Spock, in that game? xD
It does look interesting, though!

Don't remember where I was - I realized life was a game - The more seriously I took things - The harder the rules became

When I played, none. It's far more interesting to create your own legacy. And people are typically addressed by their ship name, since the crew are just NPCs.
