For those wondering, our downtime for a day, give or take a few hours, last month (?) was due to our dns provider being struck by lightning. We've since set up redundant dns in two countries, so that should never be a problem again. Although they do say lightning never strikes the same spot twice, so we should be set!

Doubled the server capacity for Reveri.es first birthday and it's running a treat since. I'm digging in for the long haul, coding wise - it's quite a scope I've set for our world - like nothing ever attempted before. I'm chasing funding over the next year, see if I can put on a contractor or two.

 the notion of both DNS servers being simultaneously struck by lightning...

Seeing as they were both hosted in the same data center which was hit, unfortunately, they were.

Which I believe is not that uncommon a practice. At least in Spain. ;)

I mean the new ones which are in separate countries.

Eh? They weren't. Our secondary has a brilliant record, I've used them for the last ten years and never had downtime.

Making great progress, and have enough infrastructure in now that people are roleplaying. Check back in if you have an account -- we'll be amping up for rapid deployment of features over the next six months, and try to hit that 1/1/11 launch target.

Eagerly awaiting closed beta. I hope to get in and not be afk for a week once it hits and miss the boat. It'd be so typical.

Hoping you'll send an e-mail around to keep people updated. I didn't lose interest yet!

Is this thing still active?

You -really- should have a contact form on the website, and at the very least, some kind of public discussion so you can start to create excitement / a future player base.

If you read this, I'm not working for 6 months as I've withdrawn from University till then and can assist full-time with programming or recruitment or PR/Advertising etc, or anything you need.

Rev is absolutely still active; it is quite the hive of activity at the moment!

I'm aware the front page needs a contact form, and I plan to add one soon - along with more information on the world and development status. I'll probably add a mailing list for interested folk as well. I'd expect this up before NY Comic Con, as one of our delightful users is distributing Revcards there.

Making steady progress - we have individual plants & animals in existence, and nearly done with buried treasure & resources. Next stage is resource harvesting and inventories.

Returner - if you're still keen, I'd love to take you up on the offer of assistance. Please drop me an email to admin@reveri.es when you can! If you know ruby, then have I got some work for you!

Anyone who'd like an account, feel free to email me. :)

...I may actually enjoy programming after this epic project is finished, gosh darn it!
