Speaker location
I've been finding that after the implementation of windows, I'm having a problem keeping track of where people are (inside or out) for the purposes of role-playing. I suggest adding a very small indicator after the dynamic name of the speaker. For example:
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (b) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (v) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (s) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
Building/Vehicle/Ship
Not sure if you can distinguish between the last two, though.
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (b) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (v) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (s) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"

Re: Speaker location
I think discerning between vehicles and ships can be done, but I don't see how necessary it is. Good suggestion though.
The tag would probably need to go into translation too, so it is clear in all languages.

Oh, and maybe an (o) For outside, too, for when you're inside yourself?

I was thinking of that too at first, but then decided not to post it, since I think it is more clear who are outside with no "tag" on them.

Re: Speaker location
But, does that mean that when you are inside with someone else, this other person is still tagged with a (b)?

Re: Speaker location
I think it would make sense that if you are in a building, people in the same room would have no symbol, ones in a sub room with a window would have (b) and people outside would have (o).

Re: Speaker location
can be this some adjustable from player menu
show location of speakers
never: no tag
short: (o)/(b)/whatever tag
long: extended word and link to dynamic name from building/room/city
show location of speakers
- never
- short
- long
never: no tag
3734-0.04: Jane Doe says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
short: (o)/(b)/whatever tag
3734-0.04: Jane Doe (o) says: "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
long: extended word and link to dynamic name from building/room/city
3734-0.04: Jane Doe says (on unnamed location ): "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"

Re: Speaker location
But the o doesn`t stand for on, it stands for `outside`, so perhaps:
3734-0.04: Jane Doe says (outside unnamed location ): "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"
3734-0.04: Jane Doe says (outside unnamed location ): "Very deadpan. *she nods, laughing*"

This would eliminate an extra click to find out on the people page. Why not do it?

Re: Speaker location
Curiosity has struck me, as this sounds great.
But not knowing the physics of these windows, can someone inside see someone else inside a completely separate and unattached building? Such as shouting across the street at your neighbor who may be standing at the window of their house?
If above instance can be true, we will want tags labeled for
Same Location (name of location)
Vehicle (name of vehicle)
Ship (name of ship)
Building (name of building)
Outside (name of outside)
sub room attached to current location somehow (name of room)
Also with that, I have a minor suggestion that i didn't feel warranted a new thread. But with the implementation of windows, may it be possible now, or rather easier now to display a person on a path that is within a certain distance of current location, such as someone who is about to arrive in a tick or two, or someone who has just left.

Yes, you can see people in the front room of another building that also has a window.
