That's already the case.

I remember about 15 years ago while driving in the moutains of Pa. a buck standing in the road refusing to let my car pass. He sure as hell would have attacked me if I had beem smaller than a car. Then out of the darkness 6 doe walk across the road, he waited maybe one or two minutes after that and walked off behind them. I will never forget that, it was awesome! :D

Some animals are like that. As long as you're inside the car, they don't realize you're a dangerous human. Or they just havent had enough evolution yet to realize that cars are synonym with humans and with possible death... But if you step out of the car they run immediately.

Bumping this, not because of the OP, but because I love the idea of certain animals occasionally stealing things off the ground. (Also DF is awesome.)

Raccoons and monkeys (do we have monkeys?) might actually steal small items, and others would take certain resources (meat, bones, carrots...) depending on what they would normally eat. Omnivores should have a preference for prepared foods.

It wouldn't happen very often and unless a raccoon got a hold of a key or something it shouldn't be too annoying, it's just give people something to RP off of.

Also, since this was brought up earlier, I've heard of several cases of deer attacking people in real life. Heck, just search for 'deer attack' on youtube and I bet you'd pull up a ton of results, and that's only the ones that've been caught on video.

Technically that's an ape, not a monkey. :)

I generally like the idea, but I doubt the necessary coding would be worth the result.

The original suggestion has been rejected. The point about deer is valid, their aggression is set to as low as possible without it being zero. I tweaked it a little. Life on the old islands does seem to be a bit safe.
