Re: Character Suicide
A 24 hour delay allows for a night's sleep. I would go out to three days, but no longer. 20 days is far too long, and I can starve my character in the same amount of time. There's no reason to implement another 20 day option when one already exists.
So, characters must be >30 years old
There is a period of 1-3 days for a player to change their mind
There is a lock on the character slot (problem, see below).
You can choose from a drop down list of ways to die.
Problem - Normally over 30 you won't have slot lockage, so it will still be a more efficient use of time to starve characters off (20 vs. 40 days) if you want them replaced. Is this reasonable?

It isn't always that efficient, considering the number of characters that force feed them. Having a certain way out with any kind of restriction would surely be welcome.

I am completely for this.

Re: Character Suicide
I agreed with this option or, if it's not possible or refused... with a button to avoid being feed, something like a "not automatical eating" or anything like that.
At any case, I think any option shoud be on the inner menu of preferences, a place not very accesible, to avoid tempations

Re: Character Suicide
A spot in the character list under the player settings might be a good place

No, it's not.
To me a good place it's in the character's menu, in the settings. Inside enough so you only can reach it if you really want to kill that char. And, of course, with a confirmation window.

You two just said the same place. You're not in contradiction at all.

Re: Character Suicide
We did?
I though Mitch said "player settings, char list" and I said "char settings inside char." I though they were different places, my apologies...
By the way. I vote for a "not visible place".

Re: Character Suicide
As was stated before, have your charri gather something not that is not food, this will fill them to capacity and not allow them to be force fed.
Doug, I see your points and I do agree, but I say 2-3 days... If there becomes a locked slot. I see the point about 20 days being to long.. if there is a locked slot.. I was thinking that they could just respawn right away.. my bad...

Re: Character Suicide
I really like this idea, and agree with all the parameters being agreed to. However, I would much prefer if, instead of a drop down menu choosing type of death, that it says 'appears to have committed suicide', since that is what this is.

Re: Character Suicide
If it said that, people might again start killing off whole accounts just to get the heart attack message. Suicide could be one option but all sorts of voluntary methods of dying would make things more colorful.

Re: Character Suicide
Accepted. Let's work on ideas for the drop down box. For the sake of not losing suggestions, please include all previous suggestions when you post yours.
The cause of death seems to be...
a heart attack
a fall
a broken neck
from drowning
from suffocation
unknown *already an event in the DB, but not used*
from blood loss
from exposure
