I have a char in a town that has recently been declared a republic; we are still full of Imperial buildings.
I think that it should be possible to change name to buildings with, something like 2 days work.
It could be conditional to having the building unlocked and empty from living people (just to avoid people messing about when you are inside a building).
I think it should be resource free and only need a chisel or a carving knife or nothing at all.

Yeah... This should definitely be implemented. I'm tired of looking at the **** Hut. Please please please. I just want to cook in there, not make babies.
