looking glass

Postby quidit » Mon Jan 12, 2004 6:18 pm

I was thinking it would be nice to add a looking glass, binoculers, or somthing like that to help with sailing. You could see it to see land far away. Say your heading north and there is land west that is to far to see with the naked eye, well you would miss it. Just an idea.

Or maybe you'd get a larger image on the locations screen :D

well, since farmer was cool and posted a link to this thread... is it still a good idea? it would really, really, help with sailing... and what self-respecting captain doesn't look cool holding one anyway?

apparently not. in fact, it was someone else's idea more than a year before it was your idea.

Sometimes people can come up with similar ideas independently.

was your idea pie
- is also someone else's - a year or so before you post yours - look at the date at the top ofthe first post - you don't have a monopoly on this, or any other, idea.

Someone came up with it before you - don't be surprised - 'seen-thisitis' is a common occurence in the suggestions forum... Just, maybe, use a search before you next suggest something? It's honestly very likely someone will have come up with it before...
Whoever you vote for.

There is a button marked search at the top of the page near the login and right above the PM link. I must admit though, I don't have as much with it as I would like. I wish there could be a few more obtions to help weed out false positives.

Make sure to select 'posts' rather than 'topics'.

That always helps.

Aye, selecting posts does help a bit, but I still pick up some weird results sometimes. Careful use of Boolean operators made it even better, but apparently I pick odd search keywords. Maybe I should just search for "exactly what I'm looking for" and see what comes out.

Today I was looking for a book for work on Amazon. The search keywords that ultimately found me what I was looking for were "latex companion". Imagine what else I found to buy! I didn't try to google the phrase yet, though.
